Re: Ownership Saga [R] Gandalf my man, what the hells's got into you? Last couple weeks your insightfull, constructive, not fighting with anybody, making good points in good ways, and this is just downright funny. Hell its like a new signing. If only kewell could come good like this. Maybe you should play on a yellow all the time Tell the truth......you're getting some arent you. Its the only explanation. ********** has charms to sooth the savage beast, they say. ok, ok, it was me said that, but deny it if you will. Anyway credit where its due lad ...repped.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Ah stuff you all! I'll buy one myself, do a Gandalf and throw it on my credit card, so I can earn more frequent flyer points to get out to the Director's Box for a game or two neat year!
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Wonderful piece of whining here about how Liverpool fans have it so good. The amount of shoddy sourcing and researching that went into this article is truly amazing. This article does not rise to the level of journalism. (Needless to say this idiot of a writer doesn't have the cop on to understand why the drunken reference to Liverpool fans by a journalist would offend). Her email address is at the bottom of the article should anyone care to explain journalism, Liverpool or good taste to her.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] "The Liverpool Reds won Saturday..." should be a pretty good tell that the article is going to be full of shit from the get go. I would send an angry email, but it is just too funny, she couldn't have been serious. EDIT: I'm no journalism major, nor am I familiar with the "Star-Telegram", but are they just letting anybody write published work nowadays? EDIT again: Just caught this re-reading it. refers to Arsenal as "it" "Did you know that Liverpool finished ahead of Arsenal last season, outspent it this off-season and is currently way behind it in the standings?" Maybe I will send and email.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] I emailed her calling into question her work product and research and pointing out her obvious mistakes. It wasn't an angry email, but a pointed one, nonetheless. She didn't take it too kindly and stands over what she has written.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Here's the email I sent to her. I wanted to be nice, but I just couldn't help myself.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Good work to all you lads sticking up for our club. Keep up the good work. As soon as I can green nipples will be heading out your way!
Re: Ownership Saga [R] I sent her a similar email, basically going through my issues with the article and received this response back.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Ipso facto why I called her on her very poor journalism and worse research. According to a few other Liverpool message boards, she has taken a bit of a beating so far, but what annoys me is her smarmy, holier-than-thou attitude. I.E. 'I'm a journalist and you're not and I understand these things and you don't'. What she needs to say is, 'I got it wrong, pretty much all of it, and I won't indulge in such piss-poor 'journalism' in the future'. I would say keep up the emails if you're so inclined.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Apologies to all good or dedicated journalists: Clark? North Dakota? Sam? But, most of the journalists I've run across were B+ English majors that couldn't write to the highest levels when critical thinking was involved. I realize there is such a thing as good journalism, and I'm not perfect by any means. Nonetheless, I see so many formulaic, over-simplified pieces based on "attitude" and "opinion". It's never insightful analysis, or clever form.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] She's trying for quirky and folksy and coming up very short, primarily let down by her lack of understanding. (Her command of grammar is perhaps best left for another time.)
Re: Ownership Saga [R] with all the talk about us needing some DIC, I think she needs abit too seriously, the rumours are now abound that DIC are going after GG's shares, George is doing excactly what we want our owners to do, sign cheques and STFU, but we know there is something afoot. They are supposed to be coming over for the Inter Milan game we shall see.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] a journalist writing about the liverpool reds without knowing about hillsborough? the height of professionalism!
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Have gillet or hicks releases any official statements in regards to this Fan takeover discussion/reports??
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Nope. I guess they have other jobs and cares that demand their attention. But a few minds have been focused by this, whatever the final outcome.
Re: Ownership Saga [R] they probably trust to the old arab proverb: "the dogs bark but the caravan moves on".
Re: Ownership Saga [R] Nice The Guy above can pull any ancient proverb out of his ass, none of them apply to scousers who make are own rules up
Re: Ownership Saga [R] the people are revolting! (sorry, love that line) so much for Parry's cease-fire this looks useful
Re: Ownership Saga [R] [vent] an example of how ridiculous the media is in general recall that for the first few months of the season, all the talk was about the large-spending Reds (which many of us refuted) 'pressure's on Rafa now that he's had lots of money to spend' the reality: this season our net outlay on players has been ~£21,070,000 what is that, less than half of champion ManU's outlay? how many other clubs spent more? now the story has become the debt burden dumped on the club by the owners, and the apparent lack of funds for players just remember, the media are professionals, don't try this at home [/vent] source: http://lfchistory.net/seasontransfers.asp?Season_id=117
