Don't even humor the thought. He's a Liverpool player to the core. He won't be going to Spain or Italy until he accomplishes more with the Reds. This is just more Real Madrid arrogance. They always pull this crap. Without talking to the player, agent, or club, they come out and say "We're thinking about taking him", as if that's all they need to do and the player will come over immediately.

    Utter crap.

Seems to me this whole story is fabricated by the media, seriously, offload Raul for Owen?

See, this smiley would be perfect as a response to that:

As a response to this though:

this smiley would be a good response: :D
    because it's oh so true

That makes as much sense as saying Owen wouldn't be a benchwarmer if he came to Real Madrid :D

    Yes, that would be "none".

"I agree. I'd like to see Michael go play in La Liga."

sometime ago one of the madrid officials said that Owen needs to get out of england to "develop into a better player"

what better way than to go to the best league in the world :)

Oh, Owen at Real Madrid would be fantastic. We could rotate him, Morientes, and Ronaldo based on whichever one of them wasn't injured that day.

No. Raul and Ronaldo are both better at what Owen does than Owen, and Morientes is a target man so he's a different topic altogether. He might be able to displace Guti, though. :D

And this comes up in this thread because:

    1) Unlike Raul, Owen has brought many Cups home with his National Team!
    2) Owen scores all his taken penalties, like he did today against West Bromwhich Albion!
    3) Thanx to Owen, Liverpool has won the Champion's League Cup more than once in the last decade....!

But yet, despite all of this...he would still be a benchsitter if he came to Real Madrid :(

Mmmm hmmm. Yet you're the one that came in here and went ballistic at the idea. To paraphrase Dan Loney, when you're flopping in the bottom of the boat, it's not a plausible time to say the bait didn't taste good.

Owen will go to Spain or Italy one day, but not anytime soon.

I would take Raul over Owen anyday.Ronaldo is better than Owen too.
Owen hasnt done ************ with Liverpool.Beating Alaves is good, but it isn good enough.Winning FA cup is good, but it isnt good enough.

Ridiculous. If your team only views potential players based on how many trophies they've won, then they're not going to go very far (I'm speaking generally here, not specifically about Real or anyone else). To say that you would turn down Owen b/c he's ONLY won the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup is just insane. Henry has never won a European Cup, would you turn him down?? Didn't think so. And don't start talking about France '98, cause that was over four years ago, and Figo's team didn't even make it out of the group stages this last go around.

I'm willing to bet that if there was a chance that Owen would go to Real, you guys would be flexing your muscles about how powerful and great your team is. Because he's clearly not at this point, it's easy to critisize him.

If Ronaldo and Portillo were out of Real Madrid,I would be happy if Owen went to Real.I think Owen is a great player, better than Morientes, but he isnt better than Raul or Ronaldo at all.
So do you think Owen is better than Raul and Ronaldo?

I've not said anything personal about anyone on Real's team, so I'm not starting now. My point is not that Owen is better than anyone at Real or that he would or would not be a smashing success there. I entered this discussion to make two points...

1)He's not going to Real Madrid.

2)Real Madrid has, easily, the most arrogant owners and board of all time. They always pull this stuff. They make no official approach to the player, their agent, or their club. They assume every player in the world would want to play for them (which, more or less, is probably somewhat true). They come out to the press saying that they would be interested in signing someone without having any proof that it could happen to back it up. They're just trying, nay, succeeding, in getting the press to link them up with the world's greatest players, whether it will ever pan out or not.

    Well,my point is:
1-Owen isnt going to Real Madrid
2-Real Madrid doesnt want sign Owen
3-Mostly of Real Madrid supporters dont want Owen coming to Real Madrid
4-Owen would be a bench warmer in Real Madrid
BTW,the Liverpool player I would like the most to come to Real Madrid is Steven Gerrard

Hehe, let's not get started on how much that would never happen. Gerrard has said numerous times that he would sign to Liverpool for life if given the opportunity. He's Liverpool through and through, born and raised.

But I more than understand your admiration. :)
