For several years the old 1917 WW1 song "over there" has gained popularity in mnt circles as a potential chant. It was also featured in a commercial in 2009 during us/mexico. I was surfing youtube for it this afternoon (when i'm suppose to be studying for finals) and came across this little known gem. It's a cover of the song by punk band Vandon Arms apparently released last year: http://www.youtube.com/embed/T1NLcWSOi8c if that doesn't motivate you for the gold cup i'm not sure what will. I think we should push to make this song more relevant in the usmnt songbook. I know it has more of a world cup theme to it but considering that the gold cup is a qualifier for the confederations cup (plus the fact that everything done in this cycle is done with the goal of success in brazil 2014) I think it is always appropriate. Suggestion: If the gold cup final is going well for us we sing this (and naively try to drown out the predominantly mexican crowd) thoughts?
