Last night really brought home to me how far the boys and the game has come in this country.
Last night we fielded a friggin 'C' team - and to top it off ,we won!!!
Made me think back to those long Sampson days when we had about as much depth as Anna Nicole. We could barely put together a crap 'A' team let alone a decent 'C' team.
************ we even had to naturalize a frog to give the Goose some competition - how sad was that?
From my point of view though, it has been well worth all the suffering.

I was thinking the same thing. A couple of players seemed to be included to see if they are Nats material - Mulrooney, Suarez come to mind.

But there were players I think are not first, second, third or even fourth stringers for the Nats - Rimando, CJ Brown.

Then there were a couple of guys I expect have ZERO chance of being in Germany 2006 - Agoos (But, did he ever have a great match last night!) and Stewart. No insult to either guy, but they are getting long in the tooth.

Frankly, the Quakes all-time team (consists of current team + Lewis + Cannon) and they are better than the Wales B team. Not sure what that means, but I sure did enjoy last night's game.

    Pretty much a meaningless game..

I'd have a hard time believing that Wales did good in Europe with the players they brought last night but still it was good to see some more US depth emerge. I remember the days when the USMNT combed Europe for players with US citizenship. Now we are beginning to produce it here. And from the looks of the youth teams, what we see now is only the tip of the iceberg. After reading the UK commentary, maybe we are a real top 10 team after all. Yes, the future looks bright.

I remember shi**ing a brick when Waldo accumulated yellow cards and had to sit out of a WCQ leading up to '98. There simply was no depth.

Anyone remember being pumped when Sampson pulled in two second division German players to give the team some depth?

    How things have changed.

I kinda liked Mason. Wagner was a steaming load of crap for Nats.

    Nats "C" team v. Wales "B" team

Is there a good roster anywhere that shows where the squad the Welsh fielded on Monday plays their club soccer? I assume they are mostly in the Premiereship and 1 Division, but I 'd like to know specifics.

Denver, do you have a link to any of the UK commentary?

Both those guys had mad wheels, if nothing else. But that's why we have Surfer Dude and Cobi.

It is a pleasure to see the Nats play so well without having to field their A team. Agreed, it has been worth all the suffering.

It is also a pleasure to see posting again Limey!

    Alright flip me old china.
I've got a bit more time on my hands now so I get to throw my two bob in now and then, for what it's worth.
You going to any of the GC games?
