The kiss of death was put on us weeks ago when Paddy Power paid out on us winning the championship. Much like Man U last year.
I was trying to be funny and the only one who picked up on it was GoonerSC. Yes, winning the MOTM award does seem to have some sort of jinx with it, in that the team's whose manager wins the award invariably has a bad result their next time out. Lets hope that streak continues.
Actually, I thought the EXACT same thing when I saw that Sir Alex and van Nistelwanker won the April awards. But I was afraid to post my thought lest my post un-jinx the jinx.
I once read that the team ate Haddock(a fish) before every match, as part of the managers training regimen. On that side of London, haddock is pronounced "addick" and as a joke the team became known as the Addicks. Seem far fetched? It seems alot of clubs get theior nicknames from jokes. Wanderers and Rovers come from the way the teams were assembled by players who wandered around looking for a team to play for.
actually, it's not the "beeb" who award the POTM and MOTM - It's Barklaycard. that story just has just being reported on the bbc site. I dont think the "curse" has ever affected Fergie. 14 MOTM wins, 8 league titles.
