Not the happiest topic, but important. Can edit thread with updates as players recover or new players are injured (a toast to everyone's health!) Season ending for 2019 Mandy Freeman (D, Sky Blue): Achilles Madison Tiernan (M, Sky Blue): ACL/MCL Brittany Ratcliffe (F, Utah): ACL Taylor Smith (D, Reign): ACL Jasmyne Spencer (F, Reign): ACL Concerning/notable: lingering knocks/injury-prone players, international implications, and/or core players of their club team Short, Brian, DiBernardo (CHI); Ohai, Simon (HOU); Menges (PTFC); McCaskill (SBFC); Logarzo (WASH); Rapinoe, Catley (Reign)
Mmm, I am confused: isn't Taylor Smith supposed to be a Washington's player? Not to be confused with Jodie Taylor, Reign's FW, who is listed in NWSL's injury report as suffering a right knee injury, but no mention of ACL so far...
She signed a month ago with the Reign. https://www.reignfc.com/news/2019/3/22/defender-taylor-smith-signed-by-reign-fc
Oh, ok, now I understand: she was signed, but she's not supposed to play in 2019 anyway. But when she was injured she was still in Washington, so Seattle's water cannot be involved in this one!
It couldn't be Seattle's water anyway. They don't drink water, although they used to in the Olympia Beer days. PS - Horan out for Thorns/Sky Blue game.
Thanks for reminding me of another beer commercial from my short stay in Pullman, WA: Ranier Beer used frogs way before Budweiser did:
Oh how I remember that, without a doubt the most creative beer ad I've ever seen. Even now, many years later, one hears "Rain-eeeeer B-eeeeer" in our house from time to time.
A couple disappointing news items to share, with two more players ruled out with serious knee injuries: Alyssa Mautz (CHI) and Veronica Latsko (HOU). Not stars, but the type of consistent, steady, hard-working player teams thrive on especially when their internationals are gone. Sad
At least the injuries aren't just affecting one or two teams. That's 6 of the 9 who have lost a player to the A-word.
