Worst case now is 5th place which gives us CL. But 5th only happens if Bournemouth beat City which I kinda doubt will happen. If we beat Brentford we end 4th. After the season we've had ..... hard to believe we'll be in the CL next year. But it is such a huge a factor in attracting the players we want I'll take it any way we get it.
wait - you are counting your chickens too early. Bournemouth is at home against City. They could win. That puts us 1 pt ahead. we'd certainly need to beat Brentford then to clinch. if Bournemouth draw with city (in addition to Arsenal winning the league) we are probably in on goal difference. or are you saying that 5th is the minimum we are aiming for?
Bournemouth may beat City, but they will not do so to overturn the +6GD in our favor. If, and that’s a big if with City going for the title, but if they beat City, it’ll be by a goal, 2 at the max. I don’t expect them to beat City. Now I suspect they might put +2-3 past Forest, meaning at best they’re still a +1 goal behind us. Which means Bournemouth have to beat both City and Forest and hope we lose or draw to Brentford. If they win both of their games and we draw, they have to win both those games by more than 6 goals total. Which I don’t see. Bottom line: beat Brentford at home on the last day long the season with send-offs for Mo and Robbo and Bournemouth can win both their games 100-0 and it won’t matter.
He has been named manager rather than head coach. The previous hires back to Potter were hired as head coach. Perhaps Xabi convinced them to ditch their model.
How ridiculous!! https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cr7pm71rvkvo London taxpayers may have to pay an extra £2.5m if West Ham are relegated from the Premier League this season, because of the club's lease agreement for London Stadium. The Hammers are 18th in the table with one match remaining, and will be as good as relegated to the Championship if Tottenham - two points above them with a game in hand and a much better goal difference - draw with Chelsea on Tuesday. Under the 99-year lease agreement, West Ham would pay the Greater London Authority about half their current annual rent of £4.4m if they are relegated. London taxpayers, who currently contribute to stadium operating costs such as stewarding, will have to make up the funding gap. "If West Ham are relegated, we, the taxpayers, we City Hall, could lose up to £2.5m a year," said Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. "So what I say to Londoners who don't support Spurs is you should probably be cheering on West Ham, because the taxpayer will lose out if West Ham go down." Khan blamed predecessor Boris Johnson for agreeing "the worst deal imaginable" in 2012.
Makes sense. I'm actually shocked that a manager as high strung and wound up as him is the longest serving EPL manager by several years - 10 years total, right?
Guardiola was a decent rival. Mourinho was nasty, but I always felt that Guardiola was a decent have a pint with type. I would love to see him (or Klopp for that matter) managing the likes Rotheram or Macclesfield for a season.
Arsenal vs Burnley. This from the bbc, summing up Arsenal's season very nicely: Lucas Pires flies in with a high boot and Bukayo Saka goes down holding his head despite there being no contact. A booking for the Burnley man.
How could you stand sitting next to someone who spends most of their time showing everyone the saliva he's been collecting on his tongue?
It'd be tough on the Rotherham / Macclesfield punters though, having to fork out 10K every week for a ticket....
What I'd really like to see a couple of years down the line is a documentary where they replay some of those neck and neck seasons and get both managers to fill in and provide commentary as well as some background info about their approaches, player choices, etc. That would be something I'd pay to see!
You know what I think I’d really like to see? We’ve a shite manager. There’s a better one now who has just quit.
No way it ever happens, but he’d be a lot happier at Liverpool IMO. Dunno why I’ve always thought that.
the way I see if they lose to MC, we're in. If they tie, we're most likely in. If they beat MC and then beat us, we're out of CL football next year
Southampton kicked out of the playoffs in the Championship pending an appeal for spying on other teams. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cwy2pnpqjl7o
