I thought that too but .... bbc: There's a little known exemption within the handball law. It covers when the ball is unexpectedly hit at you by a team-mate. Even if your arm is away from your body, the law says you should not give away a penalty. When Vitinha blasts the ball clear, could Joao Neves think the ball would be hit straight at him? Of course, this could be overriden by deliberate handball. But in the context of this situation, a penalty would not be expected to be awarded. ---- edit: That aside, he is remarkably pro-PSG. I guess it helps when the PSG owner sits on the board of UEFA.
This PSG team has a lot of skill and flair and talent. But man do they work hard. Press with the vigor we did at our peak under Klopp. But they can take most weekends off and conserve energy for the 7-8 'big' CL games they play. Not sure what the point of Zaire-Emery is. Pavlovic and Stanisic for Bayern are not good. Bayern played with such little width, that PSG hasn't even had to defend the full 18 yrd box.
It helps that a lot of their stars are rested regularly in the League several have played less than 50% of the game time in ligue 1
Not to mention that it was stopping a ball clearing further out of the penalty area!! Some re-writing to the rules of guidelines on handballs should be addressed by FiFa There are a bunch of situations where an indirect freekick is more fair as a decision.
The stupid "draw" and team's foreknowledge of who they will play in QF and Semi annoys me. I'd rather they do a drawing after each round completes.
And we think our dressing room might be less than a happy place ..... Federico Valverde went to hospital after a dressing room row with Real Madrid team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni but denied the head injury he suffered was inflicted by a punch. The Uruguayan said the blow, which will keep him out of Sunday's match against Barcelona, was caused when he "accidentally hit a table". Midfielder Valverde explained he suffered a "small cut on my forehead that required a routine visit to the hospital" during what he called an "argument". Real have opened disciplinary proceedings against both players "following the incidents that occurred this morning during the first team's training session". ---------------------- The tension in the Real Madrid locker room not only has not decreased after yesterday's fight between Valverde and Tchouaméni, but the atmosphere has worsened even more in the last few hours. As MARCA has learned, there has been a new incident inside the locker room described as "very serious" that has forced an emergency meeting and the club to meditate on taking action on the matter. The new episode, also starring Valverde and Tchouameni, has been internally described as "very serious" by several members of the locker room environment. A raunchy fight from the first moment that even forced several members of the team to intervene and that ended with the Uruguayan having to go to the hospital. Far from being an isolated incident, the confrontation confirms the obvious deterioration of internal coexistence at a particularly sensitive time for the team. Sources say that the new conflict has been "much worse" than the one that took place yesterday in Valdebebas. Sources in the locker room assure MARCA that Valverde refused to shake hands with Tchoauméni in the morning, thus starting a very hostile session that ended with a serious fight in the locker room at the end of the training. In the throw between the two, involuntarily, not promoted by Tchouaméni, Fede suffered a strong blow that caused him a gap and forced him to go to the hospital. --------------------------- BREAKING: Fede Valverde suffered a traumatic brain injury and will MISS El Clásico. “The tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury”. “Valverde is at home in good condition and will need to rest for 10 to 14 days, as per medical protocols for this diagnosis”, Real Madrid confirm. @FabrizioRomano
Boom! Real Madrid CF announces that, following the events that led to the opening of a disciplinary case yesterday against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, both appeared today before the case investigator. During the appearance, the players expressed their deep regret for what happened and apologised to each other. They have also apologised to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate. Given these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thus concluding the corresponding internal procedures.
Spurs fans should salve their consciences and hope for a draw... https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cy42l7jz7q2o Zaqualung_Problem_Solutions.com
Thank God - help is on the way for the RM dressing room. Real Madrid are in talks with the agent of Jose Mourinho about the possibility of appointing the 63-year-old Benfica boss as their next head coach. (Athletic - subscription required) Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Mourinho, who has been contacted directly by Real, is reportedly demanding full control and a significant say in transfers. Burnley currently drawing with Villa. If it ends as A draw this opens up multiple pathways for Bournemouth and Brighton to get a fifth or six spot. Of course, I'm saying that I hope we have locked up a CL spot, but if Villa end up taking and then winning the Europa league - And they are fifth then sixth gets Champions League and If they finish sixth and win, Europa, they also get champions league (and someone else got 5th)
And Villa draw. winner of the weekend - Bournemouth and Brighton - 4 and 6 pts back with 2 games to play.
