That's where I lived when I first moved to England in late 1997. The first place we lived was just off Otley Road and was walking distance from The Pine Marten, The Shepherd's Dog, and the Squinting Cat pubs.
It was said that Lopetegui had two games to save his job. Then W Ham won the first one and he was considered safe. But being 5-2 down at home at the half might mean an incoming vote of confidence.
Just a thought, don’t study Arsenal in depth, but I get the feeling that Sterling is playing a part time role only. He’s not a starter and doesn’t seem to be a go-to second half sub.
He's done at the top level. Toooooooo many games in his legs now - he's been a starter since he was 18?
True. When he was on, he was really good. Not the first Liverpool player to suffer from an excess of ambition and a dodgy agent (cough! Bobby Duncan) when the club was at a low ebb.
One trick pony. If he had developed skills outside of pace and ‘tap in’ ability, he’d still be relevant. Can’t say I’m sad to see it.
Isak is NU's biggest goal threat, he went off injured today vs CP. not a contact thing as far as I could see - he may be unavailable for our game next Wednesday. interestingly their response to losing him was to move Gordon to CF. overall they didn't impress me and were lucky to get away with a point from an og. CP who moved up to 17th place, were the far better team today.
Villa are dropping like a stone. It wasn't that long ago that pundits were talking about how well Emery had them playing this season and now they look lost.
This season’s Newcastle, I’d posit. Qualify for the CL and then look like you don’t belong and was it a fluke?
Their finishing kept them in the top 4 last season. Haven’t been nearly as clinical this year. They certainly belong given their CL results/performance, but playing consistent mid-week games does eventually have an impact.
Or more like the screaming giraffe, still alive as the lions pull it apart, offering nothing other than the screams.
But what a fall from grace. Manager of Spain at WC when they were regarded as one of 2?3? likely winners. Dumped out, went off to Real. Dumped there too. Then Sevilla and Wolves. But the beginning of his managerial career means a lot of seasoned football heads saw a lot in him. And now he’s going to be fired from his second mid-tier PL side. I think he’s done as top or even mid-tier manager. From now on, it’ll be Greek/Turkish/Saudi sides or maybe a La Liga side like Leganes. But for a brief moment he looked headed to the top.
Reminiscent of Andre Villas-Boas... Apparently interviewed for the LFC job in the search that led to Brendan Rodgers. Turned off the owners with his attitude, apparently very uppity and lots of non-negotiable demands. Brendan wasn't a long-term solution, but thank goodness we dodged that bullet.
Why not go for Potter? He was great at Brighton (but apparently all managers are). Really foolish timing when he joined Chelsea - I still think he's a good manager.
