    CONMEBOL WORLD CUP QUALIFYING
    Team---------P W D L Pts
    Paraguay-----7 4 2 1 14
    Argentina-----7 3 3 1 12
    Colombia------6 2 4 0 10
    Chile----------6 3 1 2 10
    Brazil---------6 2 3 1 9
    Uruguay------7 2 2 2 8
    Ecuador------7 2 2 3 8
    Venezuela----7 2 1 4 7
    Peru----------7 1 3 3 6
    Bolivia--------7 1 1 5 4

Brazil should beat Chile and Peru must beat Venezuela. As far as the next round goes...I'll be happy with a tie in Uruguay though I expect a defeat!

As long as Colombia and Chile do not continue to grab points Ecuador might have a chance to sneak into the 5th slot.

From what I have seen so far, Paraguay, and Uruguay have been a class apart (don't be fooled by uruguays low table position) and are playing really well. Brazil currently 6th with a game down should be able to break minto the top four and Argentina - well, despite having tied again will be able to continue getting points here and there.

Hey crismerz thanks for referring me to this thread...

Like I said in another thread a while back...this WC qualifying is going to be close, I bet you the last day of matches will only have 1 or maybe 2 teams already qualified and 5 or 6 teams will be fighting for the remaining 2.5 slots. And I won't be surprised if Argentina or Brazil is one of those teams fighting for a spot on the last day - but they'll make it.

Right now, Paraguay and Uruguay are the hot teams, but they have to keep the streak going for a long time to put themselves in a position where they can be comfortable. Argentina is lacking confidence, but they did well enough in the first few games that they have room to stumble. Ecuador is also clearly going through a resurgence since the terrible start last year.

The rest of the teams are question marks. Will Chile get consistent? Will Colombia start scoring goals? Will Brazil start being Brazil again? As far as I'm concerned, this thing is still totally wide open.

Venezuela played really bad today. I think that colombia, chile, ecuador, and uruguay will fight for 2 spots..arg, brazil, and paraguay will qualify directly.

Ecuador is in a good position to get some points in Uruguay.
I can see them winning this because Vizuete will use
the same strategy he used against Argentina.

    players used against Argentina:
Vizuete will use a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 scheme
Mina and Valencia will be used against Uruguay.

line up will probably look like this

    ---------------Cevallos---------------

    De Jesus ----Hurtado---- Espinoza---- Mina

Guerron---Castillo --- Valencia---- Mendez---- Ayovi (Bolanos)

    --------- Benitez or Caicedo

the key is to score, and then to keep attacking...if we sit on the laurels like we did against Argentina, we'll have another heartbreaker on our hands, to beat the big dogs, we can never stop attacking (and defending), we also need to be very precise and very "in the zone".....i believe Sixto's lineup is a good one, Valencia back will be a huge asset

Great..... if we keep playing like we are and not f_cuk up next games we will pass Colombia and be close to Chile or Brazil, whoever wins the next .. the nt definitely can make it if they play smart futbol and know how to play depending the adversary.

Brazil currently up 1-0 in Santiago! As it is, this would put them with Arg with 12 points.

Chile is looking like schoolkids against Brazil. They don't have the defense to make the top 5.

I see Uruguay, Colombia, and Ecuador fighting for the last 2 spots.

    This Wednesday's game is key.

I actually thought the Chilenos played well, but they are too selfish. They tried several times to "show off" when they had a goal opportunity but they ended up getting the ball taken away.

If they get their act together, I can definitely see them beating Colombia in Santiago.

Well guys its becoming pretty clear now...

Argentina, Brasil, and Paraguay will qualify direct

Peru, Venezuela, and Bolivia will be eliminated

The fight is between Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia, and Chile...interestingly tomorrow these 4 teams face off directly.

I guess a tie between Colombia and Chile would benefit us most.

I also don't mind if Chile starts falling apart now, as they are our next opponent.

Psychologically, the loser of the Colombia - Chile game will be devastated.

Not quite...I thought the same for the eliminatorias to France. Chile had lost something like 3 in a row and we were up next. They fired the coach, Acosta came in and they beat us 4-1. Ecuador on the other hand was still flying high after beating Argentina 2-0 for the first time!

I take nothing for granted. The last game means nothing!

That was a beauty - man I hope we develop a player like that again soon...

BTW that was Chile at their best with Za-Sa. No way that score would happen today.

Eventhough a tie would benefit us .. Chile is raping a horrible Colombian team... 2-0 ... Of the two I lean toward Chile because they show balls on the field and they score.. Colombia ni le hace gol al arcoiris...

But I do hope it ends in a tie .. SOMEHOW.... Although this match seems to be sealed in favor of Chile... El Chupete is the man.

I don't think Chile has the defense or Colombia has the offense to qualify. To make it to the WC, you need both.

I predict Ecuador and Uruguay for the last 2 spots, not sure which one is 5th though. Mark my words. That game today was fantastic soccer.
