The "Norwegian Romelu Lukaku" https://www.transfermarkt.de/intere...orwegens-nachstes-top-talent/view/news/313580
Romelu "heavy touch" Lukaku wasting solid chances to go free on goal in both the first and second half
The only active player close to him was Lukaku. I don’t think the French have anyone with more than 2. Harry Kane is quite possibly the worst golden boot winner of all time. I would be embarrassed to accept it after scoring 3 penalties on panama and Tunisia.
EPL is overrated league but if Kane wins that Golden Boot. Kane to Bayern!!!! Golden boot 2006: Klose Golden boot 2010: Muller Golden boot 2014: James Golden boot 2018: Kane
Don't know about you guys, but never before have I ever felt so indifferent about a World Cup Final in my life. Tomorrow I will genuinely not care about who wins the World Cup. In previous WCs there was always something that kept me interested in the Final but now I just don't care.
likely because it's been a low quality WC for the 1st time in a long long time. France aren't really impressive and Croatia just scrapped by to make the final in every game. previous WC finals had more interesting finalist.
I dont hate the idea of expansion TBH. Would allow for more opportunities for Asian and African teams.
I don't mind more African teams but Asian teams have been mostly terrible in every WC. I also don't feel like there is a lot of quality in the Asian team beyond a handful of teams.
Aren’t all the sh*t games occurring the qualifiers? Do we really need to see Argentina vs Madagascar in a WC?
Contrary to popular perception, its the African team who've been very poor in the last few WCs. Asian teams have done quite well. Japan qualified for the R16. Iran held Portugal. Korea beat Germany And the direct matches between Asian and African teams resulted in wins for the Asians or draws. Iran 1 Morocco 0 Saudi 2 Egypt 1 Japan 2 Senegal 2. No African team qualified for the R16.
Is this really that low a standard for a WC? IMO, 2002 and 2010 were worse. Especially 2010. And Kane is nowhere close to being the worst Golden Boot. That honour has to go to Oleg Salenko, from WC 94, who scored 5 of his 6 goals against an absolutely underwhelming Cameroon. That includes a penalty too and another goal where the keeper unnecessary charged towards Salenko with 2 defenders marking him. No one heard of Salenko prior to the tournament and ever since.
my post was about quality not results. We bombed yet you can't say there is no quality in the German team. Asia on the other hand outside of like 5 teams the rest are very poor. You think an extended WC will help with more Asian teams. The African qualifiers are also the toughest to make it when only 1 team from 5 groups qualify to the WC.
I don't understand the outrage with the 48-team World Cup. More matches but the NTs play the same amount of matches as before, plus a group stage of 3 as opposed to 4 means the tournament will leave little room for speculation making the World Cup a do-or-die tournament pretty much from the get-go.
