Croatia look shell shell shocked. The previous two times they fell behind in this WC, they almost immediately hit back- against Russia and Denmark.

Croatia are concededing too many corners here. And England are good at set pieces.

I still am holding out hope that a new RB emerges and Kimmich is put back into his role as a 6. He is by far the best 6 in Germany.

 

I have to say Croatia was pretty dismal in the first half but it looks like they've woken up by now - there's still hope that we'll be spared 4 years of "it's coming home" memes!

 

The only match in this entire tournament featuring quality football was Brazil v Belgium.

On Sunday, I'm a Croatia fan even if I think it's France's to lose just like it was at EC16. Although 2 consecutive finals bomb from France would be funny.

as for England, this always made me crack up.

 

Thank you Croatia. I am rooting hard for them on sunday.

 

They are coming home. England started with a very nice freekick and then I saw barely anything from them. Only in the first half of extra time they were clearly better. Besides that, it was only Croatia going for the win. Absolutely deserved win for them. Badelj almost with the choke you expect from an ex-Hamburger by giving away the last chance because he was afraid the ball might hit his head.

It must certainly be nice to have someone like Modric or Hazard to add a dynamic element instead of just passing the ball around.

 

England were out of gas after 70 minutes. Croatia could have finished the game in regulation time.

Hard to not support Croatia now, in the finals.

Just read a stat that Ladbrokes had given a 1600/1 odds for England meeting Belgium in the tournament for a second time. Who would have thought they'd meet again.

 

lol, Croatia going extra time in every game in the knockouts while England got more rest after the QF game and they were gazed out from taking too much energy for those corners/free kicks.

 

Here's a bit of encouraging facts for Croatia. Ever since Italy won their second World Cup in 1938 all WCs ending in 8 were won by a first timer (Brazil 1958, Argentina 1978 and France 1998), and every time a country won its fourth World Cup, the following World Cup was won by a first timer. However, Croatia have already conceded 5 goals, and since the World Cup was expanded to 32 no team has won it after conceding more than 4 goals.

Before the tournament, the reason this England team were likeable is because they had no false notions that they’d win the #WorldCup. The over-confidence of old was gone.

But now, every pundit in #ENG, just expects them to breeze past #CRO.

Don't agree with the narraive that #ENG overachieved. QF team at start of tournament and way draw opened up, SF was the least to expect. Didn't have to face any of the favourites throughout (aside from Belgium in a game it was better to lose).
