Yeah, not a big fan of Las Vegas either. Haven't been to Vancouver I don't think, unless we set foot there when I was a kid, but it looks pretty cool.
I just read online this below excerpt saying how soccer can be played at the new Las Vegas A's stadium, as it was and will be specifically designed as a multi-use venue…. Multi-Sport Design Documents presented to the Nevada Legislature explicitly list MLS soccer as a potential event for the stadium. To make this possible: • Flexible Layouts: The stadium is designed with movable and realignable outfield walls to accommodate non-baseball events like soccer, concerts, and rodeos. Compact Capacity: With 33,000 seats, it fills a gap between smaller arenas and the massive Allegiant Stadium (62,000 seats), making it a prime size for professional soccer matches. Climate Control: The fixed roof and air conditioning allow for year-round matches in the Las Vegas heat. Potential Field Limitations While professional soccer matches (like USL or friendlies) are feasible, the stadium may face the same hurdles as other dual-use venues in Las Vegas:
I wouldn’t put it past Fisher but supposedly , he is relying on the sale of the Quakes to help fund the stadium. If that is the case, he would need to sell the club for cash.
Surprised it didn’t say “If it happens, it would be the FIRST MLS RELOCATION.” That would be the ultimate insult. Yes we relocated you but we forgot because we don’t care.
Last month for the Quakes away game, I thought Vancouver was great. Clean, good public transit, lots of great coffee places, good food, loved Granville Island. The vibes reminded me of the Bay Area 20-30 years ago. Downtown does have a homeless problem, but it's different in that their homeless are less visible, less aggressive, and don't carry a ton of stuff around with them. I didn't even realize they were there until I noticed paramedics riding on bicycles.
Miami relinquishes a 3-0 lead at home to lose, 3-4, to in-state rival Orlando. Still winless in their new digs after four matches.
I was cheering for San Diego the whole time vs LAFC. Alas. And by far the most important player on that team -- our (formerly) own Anibal Godoy. He may not score goals but he is the team linchpin (and captain).
I was rooting for a tie and I got it . When our rivals play each other, ties are best because it's sub-playoff level PPG for the game for both.
Unbelievable. I would have thought Orlando had no chance in that game watching the 1st half. Miami is still winless in their new home after 4 tries. I thought for sure they'd win virtually every game there. I think a big problem is that they can't get their defense right. I think Falcon is a bit of a clown. And then too many old men out there, and Berterame just seems to keep finding new and creative ways to not score.
I saw the 3-1 HT score, then I saw the score around 85’ that ORL had tied it up, and then later I saw that ORL had won. So even tho I’m boycotting MIA games, I had to watch the recap. Martin Ojeda, the ORL guy who had the hat trick, can hit the ball wickedly hard and is a 27 yo from ARG. I wonder if Messi told him he’d never play for the NT. also it was really interesting to see both Canadian GKs make outstanding saves. I wonder if Jesse Marsch went to that game?
Well I wonder if Dayne St. Clair is feeling the heat. Doesn’t seem like he’s having a great year and Crepeau was pretty incredible in the game. I think Orlando has 3 young Brazilians playing for them and all that youth + The Ojedas might be paying off. And then they’re gonna add Griezmann. For a while, earlier in the season, they were the worst team in MLS, giving up tons of goals.
