San Diego, the "we invented how to play soccer" people suddenly looking like they're not sure how to play soccer, losing again tonight, this time to Minnesota, and getting yet another red card on their back line. I think they've had a red in just about every game.
You've been seeing lots of layoffs in 2025 due to this despite what CEOs are saying. That will continue. And I've been reading that it's pretty much impossible to find entry level jobs for a long while now... though I'm not entirely sure if that's Trump's economy or AI. My current company has been slower to adopt things and I haven't detected a big change in attitude yet. I think the right mindset now is to embrace it and massively up your productivity.
Law takes a long time to adopt new technology and AI can't represent in court. I assume AI has replaced (or soon will) anyone who researches though. https://www.reuters.com/legal/gover...l-judges-are-using-ai-study-finds-2026-03-30/
Unless you're a trial attorney, AI can and will replace your job in the legal profession. It's simply a matter of when.
Trial attorneys are ultimately going to bankrupt AI and save civilization from the evil inherent in the unhuman system. Simply a matter of when. AI system resorts to blackmail if told it will be removed https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpqeng9d20go
Most lawyers never go to court, but there's a lot of relationship-building that happens in most areas of law. Once AI gets good at that, humans may simply become obsolete.
AI is somewhat accurate but I’ve asked it some things and they don’t always tell the truth. If they are telling the truth, they make a lot of mistakes. Some questions I’ve asked seem factual but other times they are way off..
There’s relationship-building in most aspects of the human condition. What a Brave New World when humans become obsolete.
Well, this is a surprise. Mascherano is leaving Inter Miami "for personal reasons". We can speculate on the "personal reasons" but I wonder if he got tired of having to deal with the expectations for the team. And the timing is curious - 2nd game in a row they failed to win at their new stadium. Just 2 games, but maybe ownership was at his neck, and he just thought - you know what, you can have your team. I won you an MLS Cup and I don't need this anymore. https://www.intermiamicf.com/news/head-coach-javier-mascherano-departs-inter-miami-cf
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/71...hletic_breaking_targeted_email&userId=1915940 Javier Mascherano out as Inter Miami manager in stunning twist Sean Rayford / Getty Images By Tom Bogert April 14, 2026Updated 11:05 am PDT Head coach Javier Mascherano has departed Inter Miami, the club announced on Tuesday, in a stunning twist for the reigning MLS Cup champions. Two sources tell The Athletic that Guillermo Hoyos could take over as interim head coach. Hoyos led training on Monday, sources say. Mascherano, one of Lionel Messi’s closest friends from their time with the Argentina national team and Barcelona, was named Miami head coach in November 2024, after the club’s elimination from the playoffs. In his lone full season in charge, Mascherano led the club to its first MLS Cup title. He was lauded for moving away from Luis Suárez in Miami’s starting XI in the postseason (a choice first forced via suspension, but then maintained after), instead flanking Messi with Tadeo Allende and Mateo Silvetti in order to unlock the full potential of the team’s attack. It worked, with Miami scoring the most goals in a single postseason (20) in MLS history. This season, though, Miami has played below expectation, already having been eliminated in the Concacaf Champions Cup by Nashville SC in the round of 16 and having drawn both of its games at Nu Stadium, the club’s new arena that opened on April 4. Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba retired this winter, but Miami completely reloaded for 2026. Miami set a new club-record transfer with a $15 million deal to sign Mexico international forward Germán Berterame, as well as revamping the defense with additions of reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Dayne St. Clair and former Houston star center back Micael. Even so, Miami is 3-1-3 through seven matches, sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference with just a +1 goal differential. Mascherano makes for the third MLS coaching change early into the 2026 season, following Orlando City’s firing of Óscar Pareja and CF Montréal’s ouster of Marco Donadel. At this point no one seems to have a scoop. Speculation seems to be centered around one of - 1) forced out for weak performance (really? - just won an MLS Cup like 7 games ago), or 2) he's got another gig lined up.
Not blaming you. Just expecting more from the “journalists”. I could have written that without leaving my couch.
Would Tata Martino, another Friend of Messi, jump ship to Miami? His current team in Atlanta isn't doing well too.
Club America is sad. They can't score. They're missing a bunch of attackers. They're close to the bottom in goals scored in Liga MX this year. Two 90's against Nashville, 0 goals.
It is a tool and a bit like balancing a pole on your hand. The more you try to get it to do for you (the longer the pole), the harder it is to see when it screws up (the harder it is to keep it balanced on your hand).
The Colorado-Miami game tomorrow might be an interesting watch. CO's attack is poppin' right now - they are tied with the most GF with 19 (with Vancouver). Will Messi be able to pick them apart or will CO ambush them physically at altitude. Tom Humphrey Bogert wrote a piece in the Atlantic that implies (lots of inneundo) that an argument between Messi and Masch after their NYRB game precipitated Masch's leaving. The implication is that Masch got tired of the haranguing from Messi (and possibly ownership as well), but Bogert did a lot of implying w/o actually saying it. The interim coach Hoyos is apparently a Messi yes-man.
I was lucky to be born just months too late for the Vietnam-era draft, and, hopefully, too early to be put to pasture by AI... hopefully.
Maybe next season but I think he has a better deal in Atlanta as opposed to Miami. There was a reason on why he left them all of a sudden. He probably feels less pressure in Atlanta than he did coaching Messi’s Miami. Then again, if he continues to lose, Arthur Blank may get rid of him there too….
