Man, Cucho Hernandez - among all the other things, pretty impressive the way he can fly into the box on a corner, find the ball and head it in.
So a bad start doesn't have to doom your season... After their worst-ever start through nine games (1-5-3), Sounders have already equaled their fifth-highest point total ever (56). Their +16 goal-difference would also be their fifth best ever.— Jeremiah Oshan (@JeremiahOshan) October 6, 2024
Doesnt matter.. the congragation of people here still say the Sounders and Schmetzer suck now. Waibel is another sleeper, very good GM the Quakes passed up.
Yeah I remember Waibel was a candidate for our GM. Only caveat is that I think they may have.whiffed on their big $7.5M DP signing - De La Vega. He was out injured most of the year but hasn’t impressed me at all since coming back. Their local kid Rothrock who’s playing on the other side, for $89k, looks better.
not everything from Stanford is bad 📸: @ivanmorozov https://t.co/7qomiT2lxu pic.twitter.com/kYU9RyJT98— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) October 6, 2024 Quakes should draft her
Who says we won’t? The Stanford “marching band” is famously irreverent, a 180 from the traditional march in formation and wear military style uniforms marching band. I think we tried to emulate them a little at times in HS but you can only get away with so much. My friend was the band MC and at one point did an imitation of one of the famously disliked administrators at the school - got into a little trouble over that, and I think we didn’t shy away from double entendres and things like that.
Some pre-season article suggested three young South Americans that MLS teams should look at, Gabriel Pec, Pedro De La Vega, and Hernan Lopez. All three ended up in MLS just months later, all signed by front offices led by guys that the Quakes considered for their GM position. Pec is clearly the best signing as of now. De La Vega has done absolutely nothing this season and has never impressed me when I've seen him. Looks like he has 1 goal 1 assist, and has never played a full 90 minutes. So as of now just based on those big signings... Gabriel Pec >>> Hernan Lopez >>> Pedro De La Vega Will Kuntz >>> Chris Leitch >>> Craig Waibel
Yeah and if Pec was on the Quakes I don’t think he’d be nearly as productive. De La Vega was injured most of the season and when he came back the excuse was always that he’s playing himself back into fitness but he’s played 15 games now and hasn’t looked impressive at all to me. And his contract runs thru 2027.

Paul Pogba to join Lionel Messi in the USA? Wasn't it posted on this board only a 7 months ago that Pogba coming to MLS would be unheard hypothesis? Other Teams' Results [R]
Playoffs once in 4 seasons, sounds like a Quakes coach prospect! Actually we’ve done a little better - 5 playoff years out of 17. So he doesn’t meet our lofty standards, sorry.
This makes the 2024 Quakes look competent Bundesliga 2 isn’t a real league what is this 😂 pic.twitter.com/nIXsaoqX4b— The 44 ⚽️ (@The_Forty_Four) October 7, 2024
