I'm pulling for LAFC to win this whole thing. I just don't see who's left who can beat them. They're so deep. Well oiled machine.
Oh well, Seattle is not that good. Was really hoping we could beat LAFC because I think we'd have a decent chance against Seattle in Seattle.
Seattle is in 7th place, - LAFC are just that much better. LA Galaxy vs LAFC is the likely Western Conference Final.
I have not been impressed with Seattle this year. They're always hard to score on but their attack....meh. We even beat them this year, during the Luchi era!
We beat LAFC as well. The attack isn't as potent as it used to be. They are actively trying to replace and upgrade Ruidiaz this off season Waibel said.
Yeah, we might have beaten LAFC if not for 'Brough. Really the 2nd and 3rd goals were on him, and the 4th was just piling on when it was already over.
This isn't horse shoes and hand grenades, hypotheticals or logistical what if mathematicals. I did win 540 bucks that game though playing squares with LAFC scoring 4. Paid my shit ass water bill
In the short term the only thing that matters is the what. But the how has potential implications for the future. If I thought the Quakes got hammered and badly outplayed all game I'd say it. I don't mind. If I thought they looked reasonably competitive and were mostly done in by bad play by 'Brough I'll say it.
After a 0-0 draw in regulation , the CRapids beat Club America on pk’s and qualified for the semifinals of the Leagues Cup. The America Gk missed his pk on the 10th kick. All Mexican teams are now eliminated from the competition!
Potential rematches of MLS Cup Union vs LAFC or Crew vs LAFC. However it'd be nice to see The Rapids vs The Crew. Serious MLS 1.0 old school vibes.
Most likely we get a 2023 MLS Cup rematch, second most likely is a 2022 MLS Cup rematch And then there were four. 👀The @LeaguesCup Semifinals are set! pic.twitter.com/oJ4jvSqNSO— Major League Soccer (@MLS) August 18, 2024
Oddly enough they lost a bunch of PK shootouts and I always thought that Liga MX teams have better finishers in general (and I still think that). Maybe weaker GK’s?
Let's hear it for the Over 35's! LA Galaxy Sign Midfielder Marco Reus 'I want to play football and have fun' - Reus on MLS move I hope Reus & the Gals fall flat on their face!
Zac Steffen wasn't great... but I guess did enough. Solid on him for scoring though... you could see how nervous both he and the MX keeper were.
Sure...but these results wouldn't be the same if held all in mexico. It's a BS money grab. I feel its a cheap way for MLS to crap on Concacaf champions league, since teams (not ours) are being held back on spending. These results never happen when games are played in Mexico. There wouldn't be 4 MLS semifinalists. Now MLS gets 3 more spots in the CCL let's see how they do when they play in a real tournament of home and away.
Correct. Despite the pro Mexican crowds at MLS stadia, the tournament is very unfair as the Mexican teams are all on the road and playing outside their hometown environments. If it were home and away schedule, I'm certain the results will have been different, kind of like the Concacaf Champions League. Garber & Co are happy with this Leagues Cup as they are making money. The thing is though, Mexican teams playing exhibition games in the US have traditionally been a money maker so I doubt it will end anytime soon.
This is true. The Liga MX teams have a signficant disadvantage having to essentially play everything on the road. If the shoe was on the other foot, we'd see very few MLS teams going thru to the later rounds.
We only watched the COL vs CA shootout. I was surprised how poor Zack Steffen is at saving PKs — half the time he didn’t even move. However, on the 8th or 9th round, he took the PK himself and put a bullet past the CA GK. This must have unnerved the CA GK, because he took the next PK and shot it wide. So CA was eliminated, and he was crying afterward. I don’t think COL stands a chance against LAFC. Hugo Lloris has assisted Bouanga in I think it is the last 2 LAFC games.
