The bolded part is me on both hands, always. (And don’t forget about John Wolyniec as well ). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
It is with great sadness amd a heavy hearty that I send my last goodbye to my young cousin, former Cal Bears soccer player, Anthony Salciccia Jr. He prematurely passed away on Christmas Day 2022. I will always remember Anthony as being a great soccer player with an incredible smile and a lot of love for everyone! Anthony was captain of the University of California, Cal Bears soccer team, where he played from 2009-2012. His father (Anthony Sr.) and I would always drive up to Berkeley to see him play. He was such an incredible player that we were all in awe at his skill. Below are some pictures of Anthony. I am sending my deepest condolences to the entire Salciccia family and hope my dear cousin Anthony Rests In Peace! He will be missed! ⚽⚽⚽ Anthony Salciccia Obituary (1991 - 2022) - San Jose, CA - Mercury News CalBears.com Press Release
Really sorry to hear that. He was a few months older than my youngest (daughter). I hope his parents will treasure his memories and get some peace from those.
ExtraTime seemed to think Josef had a good chance of accepting the role of super-sub. He was sort of in that role last season. Anyhow, he either accepts that role or there’ll be chicken & rice all over Miami’s locker room:
Just want to say thank you and I appreciate all the condolences for Anthony. Also thanking former SF Bay Blackhawks (player) and Cal Bears coach Kevin Grimes (now living in Spain) as well as many other former Quakes players , coaches and admins including Chris Dangerfield , Johnny Moore, Mike Whitlach and Frank Yallop for their thoughts. Dangerfield said he was the best player he had a chance to coach at the De Anza Force. For his age group at the time, I think he was one of the better local players but the knock on him was his size as he was smaller compered to most. It was too bad Yallop didn’t take him in 2013 but at that point, they had a lot of midfielder’s and only a few rookies made the team. Adam Jahn from Stanford, Tommy Muller (who was the 2013, 15th overall MLS draft pick from Georgetown), Mehdi Ballouchy from Santa Clara, former Hermann Trophy winner Marcus Tracy and Sam Garza who was on a Generation Adidas contract. Yallop and Ian Russel wanted to sign him but I think it was John Doyle who had the final say. He tried out for Sacramento for Preki but by then, he became a little disillusioned and decided to quit as it would have been hard enough (at the time) to make a living in MLS much less the USL. He will be missed but I’m betting he is alive and kicking from up above! ⚽⚽⚽ Thanks again! God Bless Anthony and maybe he Rest In Peace! ⚽⚽⚽
Looks like Minnesota has won the first pre-season game of 2023. https://sportsfeed.me/@MLS/109712218800581595 Hmmm.. I wonder if BigSoccer will ever integrate with Mastodon like it does with Twitter and YouTube.
Kind'a simple... If it's a guy assessing another guy's appearance that's one thing, a guy assessing a gal -> inappropriate.
Serie A’s FIGC Prosecutor has ruled that Juventus will be given a -15 point deduction as result of the “Plusvalenza Case”, club’s capital gain violations 🚨 #Juventus— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 20, 2023 Juve would have to win the rest of their games to match what Milan had last year (give or take a point) and that is highly unlikely. This deduction will place more pressure on them to win and it will condition their games and put their team and defense at risk. If they keep drawing or lose a few, they could miss out on quite a bit. If they win the Coppa Italia they could back into the Europa League but that isn't as good as the CL. Then again, looking on the Juve board, they look like they may have more punishment though so who knows how it will end up. 🚨 More punishment, possibly even another point deduction can be coming soon....Why? Juve were yesterday prosecuted only for the capital gains case.At the same time, FIGC opened another investigation about the salary manoeuvre that is still to have a verdict.- Tuttosport— Juve Canal (@juve_canal) January 21, 2023 Maybe when all is said and done, they get relegated to Serie B again?
Hell no. This place has used the same coding and dated layout since 2001 when I went snooping into the coding. This place doesnt even offer dark mode. A lot of the forums have become ghost towns sith the rise of twitter, tube, reddit, fb groups, and discord, forums are almost obselete. Thr obly people using forums and big soccer are fossils, Dinosaurs and people like me who are everywhere and enjoy nostolgic feels of a community. However, woth that said theres a few discord channels now where you chst, and have watch parties in 4k when games are being streamed so its the same more or less as the pre, post and ingame discussion.
When BigSoccer was sold, upgrades and even routine maintenance seemed to decline. I guess that's not a surprise. That said, I am on Twitter, IG, Reddit, have a Discord account (not a big fan of Discord), and have so far managed to avoid that Chinese spyware platform, but all the social media sites feel like fast food compared to this forum. Maybe that's what GenZ wants -- quick hits and bursts of attention -- so I'm glad they have their happy place, but even happier that we still have resources like this one, where people can have real conversations, even real arguments.
I can’t stand the Reddit and Twitter subforums because any idiot with no knowledge or real interest can (and do) weigh in on stuff so that it becomes really difficult to separate the wheat from chaff - and 90% is the latter…
@don gagliardi Saw for SJSU & Quakes players Steve 'Red' Ryan and Easy Perez today. They both say hi to you Don!
