Thats Williamson, one of the fringe USMNT players. That one looks long term. How many times does that have to happen before they do something about it
In the battle of 2 interim coaches, Vancouver wiped the floor with RSL tonight. Flo started and scored a header on a corner kick.
yup, Portland was unfortunately the only big result to go against us this week and the one that was the closest competition. That 2-0 win put them back in the playoff places I believe
So all 3 Sunday games went badly for the Quakes... https://www.mlssoccer.com/standings/2021/conference
There’s a big logjam around the last 2 playoff spots - 4 teams within 0.05 PPG, 2 over the line, 2 under. And Dallas and LAFC lurking. Going to be tough. Welcome to MLS uber-parity. Quakes 538 playoff chances dropped a few percentage points from last week I think. We’re still roughly at 1 in 3 chance of making it, which sounds about right given the current state of affairs.
Giving the other teams their due, there were many entertaining games this past weekend. I watched Nashville v. Atlanta and “ElTraffico.” Lots of action, and goals. Trust me when I say, I’d rather watch MLS 2021, than NASL circa 1976. I’m just glad I’ve gotten to see both.
It was pretty fun to watch Dallas's new crop of homegrowns wreck havoc on their newest rival Austin. Although they did take their foot off the pedal in the second half. I did not initially like Nashville when they entered the league but they have become a team I always try to watch now. I really look forward to seeing them open their new stadium next year. Hopefully Florian will do as well at VWC as Godoy has done in Nashville.

LAFC sends Diego Rossi to Turkey. That just might improve the Quakes' chances of making the playoffs.
Really, every team who has lost a player to the turf there should file a class action suit against the Sounders. I didn't see it, but apparently Williamson tore his ACL without any contact in the first few minutes of the game.
Hmm, how many more have turf? Talked to a Timbers fan today who made no mention of the fact the turf did it...
Quite a few teams still have turf (I think mainly northern clubs and clubs sharing NFL stadiums), but from what I’ve heard on the various player podcasts, Seattle’s is by far the worst. I think Atlanta is also bad. I wonder if anyone has tallied the number of soccer ACLs while playing against the Sounders. Or even including the Sounders players… Yeah, good point that it’s tough to sue other homeowners in an HOA, but if more MLS owners at least complained about this happening, maybe MLS would force a change.
Lol, the Seahawks pretty much rule the roost at that stadium. Nothing will change unless they say it can change. But, maybe MLS can nicely ask the Sounders to build their own $400million stadium.
I found a Sep-2020 article in The Athletic that cited some NFL statistics of grass vs turf. Because turf does not creates a divot, the knee and ankle suffer more force when turning. Multiple research studies, several of which were conducted by NFL team physicians, have found an increased risk of lower-body injury when playing on turf. And the numbers are overwhelming. One of those, a 2012 study led by Elliott Hershman, team physician for the New York Jets, found a 67 percent greater risk of ACL injury and 38 percent greater risk of ankle sprains on third-generation artificial surfaces, like the turf installed at MetLife Field. More recent studies have found similar results. A review of injury information from the 2012 to 2018 NFL seasons, again by a group of NFL physicians, determined that the risk of knee, ankle and foot injuries was nearly 50 percent higher on an artificial playing surface. The findings indicate that the closer the joint is to the artificial surface, the greater the risk of injury; the ankle and knee are especially vulnerable. I guess this problem only gets solved when the players refuse to play on turf
Back to 10th, though we are just one out of playoffs by PPG, tied with Flo’s Whitecaps. Now under 30% playoff chance by 538.
