Aaron is an Atlanta (and national) legend. He transcends any petty prejudices or politics between the sports.
Well Pele was a world icon but I recall most baseball pundits denouncing his every move. From when he he arrived in NY in 1975 to when he retired in 1977...
There should be no conflict. Baseball is a pastime, like playing checkers or bird watching. Soccer is a sport.
Regardless of all of that which I already touched on , I still doubt a baseball team would do the same for a soccer icon. The A’s owner owns the Quakes and their president Dave Kaval was the former president. I do remember the Quakes acknowledging them but never vice versa...
Thing is, it's not just any soccer team honoring just any baseball great. Hank Aaron was a legend in Atlanta, not just for playing with the Braves for many years, but being involved in the organizaiton and community for many, many years after. The analogy would be like the pro basketball team from Pele's home state of Minas Gerais in Brazil (if such a thing exists) honoring Pele when he passed away. No one would be surprised. I thought I recently saw something where the A's were kicking a soccer ball around the outfield, and maybe there were a few Quakes there, but I may have just hallucinated that. I did find this, from 2018.
That’s when it was born and on the rise though... I had gone to a few Niner and Raider games and maybe an A’s or Giants game but I don’t have the same memories as I had as I had at Quakes games...Thats when the A’s won 3 straight World Series and the Raiders a Super Bowl. I was just a kid at the time and couldn't enjoy it that much until maybe late 77 & 78 but still have fond memories and remember having a lot of fun at the NASL games at Spartan Stadium...
Weston Mckennie has been playing very well for Juventus all season long as a starter. He got injured last week in the 19th minute and left the game and Welshman Aaron Ramsey came on in his place and scored the winner in the 82nd. He has had Covid issues and a few injuries but is still doing very well. It says a lot for an American player in Italy as he is only the 3rd one in history after Alexi Lalas and Michael Bradley. Strange thing about McKennie is that he is only 22 but is playing like a seasoned veteran. I'd love it if Juventus would let him play for the USA at the Olympic tournament as he is still eligible as an Under 23 year old player....
Training and playing with one of the greatest to ever play the game must be great experience, I wonder if Ronaldo is a good mentor with younger players on his team or if he has the aloofness that sometimes comes with superstardom.

Projected starting lineups so far. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2021...news-latest-moves-and-projected-lineups-every While it might change, former Reno striker Foster Langsdorf is the projected starting forward for the Loons, if they sign another striker, he will still get some significant minutes this season. On a Minnesota fans reddit page they seem to really like the guy, they also are very high on Reno Alum, and Midfielder Sam Gleadle. 2 Guys we could have used as depth... Daniel Musovski is has also won the starting job up top and muscled BWP out of LA. On paper at least, Austin has a decent looking lineup. It features Tarbell, Lima and Hoesen. Cincinnati, Colorado, Chicago, and Us have the worst teams teams in the league on paper...
Well, duh! This season we made the playoffs so it was a yuge success....yuuuuuge! We surmounted that incredibly difficult hurdle. That means that we spoiled fans should be happy, basking in the glow of an almost-good season, for the upcoming three years of bottom-of-the-barrel, decision-day wooden spoon battle soccer we get. Our eternal fate since 2008...
Papu signed with Sevillia... Papu Gomez confirms Sevilla move: "I am excited to start this new chapter" Papu Gomez to Sevilla 'a done deal'
Justin Morrow was on the Cooligans podcast. He said Toronto is a fun place to play because they try to win every game. He tells young teammates to never take that kind of attitude for granted, because he didn't want to name names, but he's been on teams where that wasn't the case. So like what teams has Morrow been on besides the Quakes?
I’ll complete that for you. Winning is to expensive as getting a good SAT score is to an SAT prep course. It probably helps but it’s not a necessary condition.
