After watching a lot of MLS over the last couple of weeks I’ve got to say we’re the only interesting team! Oh - and being a lifelong Packers fan I’ve got to say the new kit is growing on me!
That was a sad shootout. It looked like Tarbell wasn’t even watching the kicker, or was purposely jumping in the wrong direction. He only jumped the right direction 1 time out of 5.
Hey Falvo, how do you feel about Pirlo being made the new coach of Juventus after they fired Sarri for getting eliminated from the Champions League? https://apple.news/AFakQYqqGS9yjlgl5OtbUvw
The Italian boards are livid about it. It’s pretty sad that Pirlo get a big club like Juventus and had no coaching experience. He hasn’t even coached a youth squad yet... I just remember how Shea Salinas blew right past him when the Quakes beat them in 2016!
Watching the champions league yesterday I made a comment in the Euro threads trying to say that the PK on Messi was not valid as he came in from the side and got the man and not the ball. I even posted the still life picture on how he hit his leg. From there everyone came in attacking me personally about being biased and how I’m an MLS Quakes fan bla bla bla... The more I tried defending myself about the pk , the more the dialogue evolved or tuned into a bashing the USMNT/ MLS and me... I posted earlier in he day I can care less about watching the Greek, Scottish , Turkish and A, C or J-Leagues, and MLS is my home league and that is why I watch it. The more I talked about ther merits of MLS the more they defended those leagues and bashed our.... At the end of the dialogue (which no one responded to yet) , I finally posted that it’s very strange on how and why there is such disdain towards MLS by Europeans and South Americans fans in general. No one ever claimed its this great super league. We all know MLS is a second division level at best, if that. It won’t ever be La Liga , Serie A, EPL or a Bundesliga but then I posted ow its only 24 years old ,growing , with new stadia and improving every year... I don’t get it though because most of the posters in general never watch those other leagues but they are quick turn around and criticize MLS. I just don't understand the reasoning or why there is such MLS hate? Its very strange in my opinion.
I watched the game, saw the foul and all the replays, and I felt it was a pk as well. Your picture shows one moment in time, from one angle. The defender did not see Messi coming in from behind to steal the ball and when he tried to kicked the ball he hit Messi instead. I think this is pretty clear!
I thought his earlier chest trap goal that was called back for a handball was valid but not that one. I still don't see how you can call a pk when someone is coming is from behind or the side as it could be interpreted as obstruction. I thought he got the man and not the ball initially. Even looking at this replay, Messi looks like he kicked or touched Koulibaly's right foot. Either way regardless of the pk , I still don't understand how he dialogue turned into an MLS/USMNT bashing just because they all know I'm a Quakes fan. Pretty sad in my opinion.
It was a penalty. It can't be obstruction when you're directly playing the ball. Who cares what some Euro snobs think?
Yeah I know. I lived in Europe and I know exactly how tough those leagues are but I just don't get why the MLS hate. I normally wouldn't care but when they start attacking me personally, that is when I get defensive and push back. It seems really strange though to deflect against MLS. I just don't get the correlation.
Local ref Joe Dickerson will be VAR at the tournament final (along with first female AR to do a final): https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...bCW5vS-9-HJOSPCjYQPDkzysPd6c7Y1Jst2HNVn00J2rA
I don't know what you are seeing. But I do see why the rest of the world decided to dump on you. I think this was just another case of you unwilling to admit you were wrong.
Its not a big deal and I can care less about Napoli as they will never have won. If you look at Messi's right foot, he actually looks like he is touching Koulibaly's right foot before getting the ball. Here is a picture I found online and he looks like he did in fact touch the foot...
You have that a little backward... he hits Messi's foot and it's a great play by Messi (it's called getting position on someone).
Not in this picture though.... Again, I can care less about Napoli but whichever way you look at it, intentional or not, he is in fact touching his foot...I know its a contact sport but he is still touching or kicking it. Its the ball and then the man not the man and then the ball. That is true in any league on earth.
I've seen that (Messi) play posted on several referee boards, and among referees, the overwhelming opinion is that it constitutes a foul, and a PK is the appropriate sanction.
