Bundesliga hopes to resume play behind closed doors on May 9th. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52379825
Is anyone else listening to the ExtraTime podcast? Montreal Impact asst coach & former player Patrice Bernier was on the pod (starts at minute 39). And it sounded like Thierry Henry is not doing anything with the players, and Patrice isn't doing much either. Sems like Montreal will have trouble restarting if the league restarts.
Bundesliga to return this month behind closed doors. Yeah! Some real footy to watch. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52557699 "Chancellor Angela Merkel has confirmed that the German Bundesliga season can resume this month. It will become the first major league in Europe to return to competition, with a date for resumption to be confirmed by the German Football League (DFL) on Thursday. All matches will be played behind closed doors."
The SJSRA meeting tonight discussed the early release of the 2020/21 Laws of the Game. Here are some interesting changes, maybe handball t-shirt rule is the most significant: yellow cards from the game do not carry over into Kicks from the mark On PKs, MLS ARs will not call the GK for being off the line unless they can see clear grass and it will be clear to everyone in the stadium that GK jumped early. If the kicker did an illegal feint to cause the GK to jump off the line, then the kicker is blamed. Offside handball by a defender is a deliberate play that puts an attacker onside Handball new t-shirt rule ball is not a handball if it hits the arm above the armpit (in the area of a typical t-shirt sleeve) if attacking team chooses to do a quick kick on a DOGSO, then the goal-scoring opportunity was not denied, so caution instead of red card if attacking team chooses to do a quick kick on unsporting stop of a promising attack, then the attack was not denied, so no caution If GK infringes on a PK where the kicker misses the goal or hits the crossbar if the GK was not judged to have impacted the kicker, the kick is not retaken If GK infringes on a PK and the kick is retaken, then first time is a warning and 2nd time is a caution This is a reversal of the horrible law change that almost ruined the 2019 Womens World Cup If both GK and kicker infringe at the same time, caution to the kicker and an IFK to the defense
I'm watching the German league restart their season right now with nobody in the stands. I'll take that in a heartbeat over nothing at all.
Loved watching live Football this weekend...FINALLY! With the absence of supporters/fans, kind of cool to hear EVERYTHING being shouted by the players, coaches. It's almost as if everyone was Mic'd Up! Hopefully no one in the Bundesliga tests positive for Covid-19 after this weekend..

Henry: Quarantine has allowed me to focus on self-care DC United player tests positive for coronavirus Balotelli, Pastore to MLS? Twellman & Marcotti discuss rumors
Oh man! I would love to get Balotelli here! Of course, when I told my daughter she noted "of course, San Jose won't get him...." Sad, but true...
Wow, that’s interesting... Hard to see that as a “win-win” for both sides, as per the Bank rep. “The annual cost of the stadium naming rights was onerous and hamstrung the company’s ability to spend on other marketing initiatives,” said Gary Tenner, an analyst with D.A. Davidson & Co.
Well, at least he's got the talent - something that can't be said for some of the other locker room distractions the Quakes have had over the years...
Just finished watching Chelsea/ManCity. What a match! And congrats to Liverpool, Premier League Champions!! BTW, this Pulisic guy is looking pretty solid. Here's a thought: I, and others, always talk about MLS switching to a Winter, international calendar. But sitting here watching major European soccer in late June... what if the major European, world leagues switched to OUR schedule? All real football, soccer in the Summer months; this is awesome! (IMHO). What would it have to compete with? Baseball? (LOL!), which SUCKS in more ways than one now..

Just did some 'back-of-the-envelope' computations: Covid deaths in Santa Clara County (about 158 deaths of out a population of about 2m - or about 8.2 per 100K) compare with a rate in LA county (3402 deaths in a population of about 10m or 34 per 100K). This should be fairly comforting in terms of how we are dealing with this as compared to the smog-breathing, water-stealing, botox-injecting Angelinos. They suck over four times worse!!!!
Is this really something to crow about? Because LA County probably has a much bigger BAME population living in over-crowded conditions than we do here in Silicon Valley. I know for sure pre-covid they had a much higher rate of dementia, due to BAME.
