Exciting night in CCL tonight. LAFC eliminated Leon by overcoming a 2-0 deficit and Honduran side olimpia eliminated Seattle in a pk shootout. Every MLS team but Seattle has advanced to the quarter finals.
But if you piss on Seattle, wouldn't you actually be putting the fire out? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
good for that next round of expansion fees... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ets-record-setting-700-million-plus-valuation
See - the value of Fisher's investment keeps increasing even as he pinches pennies in operating his team.
Something interesting happened in the Bundesliga today. Bayern thrashed Hoffenheim 6-0, but, the score wasn't the big story. It was the behavior of the travelling Bayern fans toward Hoffenheim president Dietmar Hopp and the reaction of the Bayern players and coaches to that behavior. https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisw...balls-approach-to-social-issues/#3e5c18fc274e https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51690403 The ref halted the game in the 77th minute and the all players left the field for 20 minutes. When the teams returned the just passed the ball around to each other for the remaining 13 minutes and the goalies didn't even bother to mind their nets. Hopp, the founder of the huge German corporation SAP, is hated by fans of opposing teams because he was given a waiver to the 50+1 rule in German soccer where the fans are required to own at least 50% of the team. Hopp has taken Hoffenheim from the 5th tier of German soccer all the way to the Bundesliga n a short period of time, and hardcore fans of the traditional ownership model don't care for the influx of big money into the game and for the special treatment Hopp has been afforded. Personally, I find it kind of ironic that it is the fans of the two biggest and most successful clubs, Bayern and Dortmund, who have been the most vocal. Perhaps they don't care for a challenge to their status.
Banc of California Stadium... . Anyone know how we get those 30oz beer cups at Quakes Stadium? You see a lot of them in the 3252 supporters section and they're pretty common in LigaMX. Let me guess: we're too damn cheap...
Only for today, I'm also rooting for Becks to beat LA. I still can't get over how much time and money Don Garber and rest of league wasted in getting David Beckham's new team into the MLS and playing in a refurbished , Lockhart (or Inter Miami CF ) Stadium. If the had to play in Ft Lauderdale anyway, couldn't they have done this sooner than 2020? They could have easily done this five years ago. It makes no sense.
"Yes, he's over 700 minutes without a goal, but it hasn't really hurt his confidence." -- Taylor Twellman, ESPN 3/1/20
Your hilarious DG! Haven't had a Mickey's 40oz since my early 20's. Seriously though, what's good for one MLS stadium should be good for another IMHO.
The LA(ugh)FC "fans" end up throwing them onto the field anyway, but they drink cheap-ass beer so it doesn't matter.
I predicted correctly the final score to the POR v MN game 1-3. This is from the new predict 6 game (predict6.mlssoccer.com).
