We’re all distantly related if you back to Charlemagne. But my Italian relatives emigrated to Buffalo in the early 20th century.
As for Gagliardi’s in California, Joe Gagliardi was commissioner of the California League of minor league baseball. He was a boxing promoter in San Jose. Maybe he was related to the Rotterdam clan?
And speaking of Rotterdam influences on San Jose, city honchos are enamerated of the new Rotterdam train station and took a junket there to see it. VTA allegedly rigged the bidding to secure the same architect for their new Diridon Station, which they promote as being Grand Central of the west coast.

Seems a shithead from the playersgroup made the complaint, a certain guy put on the bench after some "business" with the police about fraud, Darren Mattocks. Ron Jans declared this guy wasnot in his plans anymore and before the complaint was made this guy posted on social media "If you don’t stand up for something, you’ll fall for anything" with a black fist emoticon. Sure dude. You're really an example of someone that makes a rightious stand.
That's, including the fine, going to cost around 220 million, which means they can even spend less than with CL money to stay within the ffp lines.
"Enamerated"? Note to self to never again post from an iPhone. VTA "fiercely denies" wrongdoing: https://www.sanjoseinside.com/2020/02/14/vta-fiercely-denies-wrongdoing/ You know, reading this actually makes me more worried y’all did something wrong.— ellen teapot 🇨🇦🇺🇸🏳️⚧️ (@asmallteapot) February 14, 2020
Rumor has it that the complain was filed by a black player that wasn't getting any playing time with the first squad. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ead-coach-ron-jans-resigns-amid-investigation
MLS censorship 2.0. In an effort to quell last season’s controversy over political signage at games, Major League Soccer announced Tuesday it had approved a new fan code of conduct. The guidelines, which will be in effect for the 2020 season and were developed with input from supporters and civil rights groups, will prohibit the following: • Displaying signs, symbols, images, using language or making gestures that are threatening, abusive, or discriminatory, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, ability, and/or sexual orientation. • Displaying signs, symbols or images for commercial purposes or for electioneering, campaigning or advocating for or against any candidate, political party, legislative issue, or government action. That new language is more specific than what MLS introduced last year, which broadly banned anything deemed “political” without defining the word . . . https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/po...front-political-controversy-fan-code-conduct/
Boy LAFC looked terrible last night. Hopefully this is how they'll look all season. That's unlikely though as this was LAFC's first competitive game of the season and they had to face Leon who is fighting for the top spot in the Clausura right now. I was impressed with how many of LAFC's fans traveled to Leon to support the team. I could hear their irritating chants loud and clear on the tv.
The estimate is about 1000 supporters showed up. I assume some of them got a direct flight but don't really know. Proud of us. Applauded by the @clubleonfc fans post match. @LAFC @LAFC3252 #SCCL2020 pic.twitter.com/gq5JIV5DSi— LAFC Rich 🏆 (@LAFCrich) February 19, 2020
There appear to be numerous cheap, direct flights from LA area to Leon, on several airlines and from multiple LA area airports. For example: https://www.expedia.com/lp/flights/lax/bjx/los-angeles-to-leon
By comparison, when I flew to Guatemala City to see the Quakes in Champions League, I had to fly through LAX. Fortunately, the Quakes were in LA for a league game a few days later, so I got to see a pair of games on one trip. And my return flight from LA to San Jose was with the Quakes team sitting in coach around me. When I returned from Guatemala City to LA, I was interrogated extensively by what was probably a DEA agent while retrieving my luggage in the customs purgatory zone. He seemed dubious that I went there to see a soccer game. And when I tried to explain MLS and Champions League, he had never even heard of the Galaxy, let alone the Quakes.
Don't they have 22 individual owners, all of them extremely wealthy? They could foot the airline bill without batting an eyelid.
So I guess you're not impressed that a 1000 people traveled to Leon on a weekday to support an MLS club? I am.
