Re: Other Teams Discussion Thread -- Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends

So, I was watching the LA game, and LA was up 1-0. And I'm thinking ..... ooooh, I feel dirty, but LA winning this game would sure be nice ..... I flipped back and forth between the game and some other stuff, saw the score tied, etc ... but I missed the part where NE went ahead for good. What the heck happened - does the LA defense suck as much as my sig says? Was NE playing that well, did someone get lucky, did the sand in Landon's vagina cause him to be less effective late in the game?

I watched the game on DVR late last night, and I think NE scored less than 20 seconds after the restart for LA's goal.... I was fast forwarding after LaLa's tying goal, and saw the score go up by 1 (to 3-2) for NE and I was like WTF... crazy game.

I wasn't. I was glad to watch LA get their butts kicked. Plus, with the way that DC has started, it's looking a lot more likely that they will be competing with LA for the 8th spot in the playoffs than with NE/RB for #1 in the East. Good job Revs!!

Um, make that 6th spot in the playoffs -- the MLS gods, in their ultimate wisdom, have reduced the playoff field from 8 to 6 teams this year. The two conference champs get a bye while the 4 teams with the next best records -- irrespective of conference -- mix it up in a wild card playoff round.

    Survey says:

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

8 teams still make the playoffs. Top two from each conference and then 4 wild cards in order of finish.

Quaranta netted two against Doug Warren in the LA/NE reserves game. I mean, that's just too easy.

Glad to see that two of DC United's biggests busts in team history are still underachieving regularly.

Speaking of which - when is it decided (and based on what?) what our "conditional" pick for Quaranta will be????????
Or was it already decided and I missed it? I thought it was contingent on games played/goals/etc/something else undisclosed - but never heard what we actually got......

The Galaxy had to pay for changing the sign on East Capitol Street over from Adu to Olsen. :D

considering that he's only a 3 year veteran (not much for a keeper) and was just a late second round pick, i don't think that much was ever expected from warren. but jason moore probably hopes everyone agrees with you. ;)

So for a guy like me who does not watch international soccer - what's the deal with this yahoo, he's old and has apparently had substance abuse issues (I am not one to hold that against anyone ), but how is he as far as leadership and defensive talent goes?

Two bans if I remember correctly. One for Cocaine and one for steroids.
The guy is not a leader. He is a bit of a thug and is a little slow at this point in his career if you ask me. He will love living in LA but not for the football.
If they add Ruiz again as well they will have quite the club house.

So are we officially acknowledging there is no such thing as the cap anymore? I mean - how else is LA going to afford this guy - 34 yo and a drugged up wash-out that he is.

He has great hair! Which is I think the main reason they got him. When Beckham shows up they will have three all-hair best XI players, Xavier, Beckham and Albright.

As for his talent, not so great. His best spell probably happened at Everton from 99-2001 but he still only played 44 games out of about 100 or so possible. He played 14 times for 'Boro in about a half a season with them. He's pretty decent in the air, but not particularly fleet of foot. Probably brought in for cover for Marshall who has a penchant for getting suspended.

He ws banned for 12 months for testing positive for the anabolic steroid Methandrostenolone. He was also banned for 6 months for going after the AR in teh Euro 2000 semi-final.

Overall not a very good pickup for LA, they are either desperate, or he's dirt cheap or both.

Doooooode, it is waaay too early in the season to say we'll be competing for 8th. We haven’t even had our first “code red” air quality day of the year, yet. Too early for that kind of talk. Just sayin'.

Landon just has bad hair. Not bad enough to be consider "great" hair! He should go bald and he might have a chance. . .

Albright has great hair in the bad sense of the word great. Kin of teh same way someone with a great mullet, like Etcheverry, has "great" hair

I wouldn't be surprised if L.A. is forced to ship someone out before Xavier comes in, the way Red Bulls got rid of Wynne as they announced Juan-Pablo Angel.

Of course, I also wouldn't be surprised if the league just lets the Galaxy blow right past the cap. If they manage to land Ruiz, we'll know the cap is history.

A recent rumor is that Albright's hair (along with Jaqua's lack of) will be sacrificed to bring the Fishy back to LA. Seems a little more realistic with the signing of Xavier. Although why Dallas would want Jaqua (a very similar player in style to Kenny Cooper) is beyond me.
