Only if you have unanswered questions about yourself So what exactly is up with Capello? Apparently resigning from England after being slapped for criticizing the FA's decision to strip John Terry of his captaincy... Falling on his sword for Terry...this is the same John Terry who tried to lead a player's revolt at the WC in South Africa is it not?
I don't think this was about John Terry at all. I think it's a control issue, and Fabio Capello feels like it's down to him who he does and doesn't put in the side, and what role they play. As you say, it's odd to go out on a limb for Terry, but I suspect it's more a principled stand.
I expect you're right, although Terry was still eligible for selection, he just was stripped of the captaincy (which I can't beleive he held on to)...so it is a small issue of control. Perhaps to Capello there are no 'small' issues of control. Of course if that is the case, how is it that Terry was still captain?
Because I believe Capello made his peace with Terry (and the rest of the players, for that matter) at the World Cup, now nearly two years ago. I think what was, for them, water under the dam.
To be fair, Nowak's tenure here was was much more stable, in terms of his relationship with veteran players, than his predecessor or successor. Hudson was just bat-shit crazy--he shipped out a bunch of players (Kamler, Armstrong) before he coached a game here, and famously feuded with Moreno in 2002 and with Marco, Earnie, and the whole "Happy-Meal" gang of under-21s in 2003. He got rid of more contributing veterans in the single trade with Metro (Moreno, Pope, Williams) than Nowak did over his three-year tenure. In his three years here, the only starting veteran I really remember Nowak getting rid of was Mike Petke. Esky's departure may have come under Nowak's watch, but Piotr already had one foot out the door and I always assumed that was Payne's move. Soehn, on the other hand, seemed like a more stable type than Nowak, but I also think he was more insecure and a true grudge-holder. Erpen was out after 10 games in 2007, and Carroll and Boswell, who had been steady starters under Nowak, were on the bench by mid-year and shipped out by the end of the year along with Gomez. For my money, LeToux has always seemed like a self-centered jerk, and I expected Nowak to come down harder than he did last year after LeToux started publicly whining about being played out of position. All three of Nowak's years here were excellent in their own way--not sure why he doesn't get more love.
I think there's a lot of respect for Nowak. I just think by his 3rd year his demands on the team and players were taking a cumulative toll.
I think the punchline you're looking for might be replacing "water under the dam" with "Terry on top of the Bridge."
wow, the Revs are in a shambles, huh? http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/02/09/moreno-deal-hits-snag-revs-hope-quick-resolution New on-loan player decides he doesn't actually want to come? Maybe there was a mix up in translation and "telework" was unintentionally agreed to
neat from salt lake [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa1DJ008t9Y"]Believe RSL - YouTube[/ame] (and with idiotic new schedule we don't play then in 2012 cos I'd like to point out that black is not their color in form of a 50 foot banner... )
Rancid drummer is fan so I'd say supporters if it came from him Well we could take that 50 foot banner to SLC then, can we go with your bike?
props to them for having an original song or is that a rip off of somebody else's? "We're in for RSL" is suspiciously British. Why is it so hard for anybody to come up with new chants/songs?
Supporter culture in USA/Ca is not very old and not very homogenous. There are several groups in MLS doing fair amount of original stuff tho and I think it'll get better with time just like all other aspects
