That shot of Beckham at the end reminded me that he's no stranger to disappointing penalty shootout losses.
Well it's not like I was betting on a long shot. Anyways, didn't Xavier miss a PK to lose a match in the Euros for Portugal?
To have an own goal, LD PK miss, and an LA loss in the same night? That was just an awesome way to send me off to bed.
Tough night for LA. They have a chance to win on a Donovan PK and he misses, and they then go on to lose on Xavier aiming for the corner rather than the goal. Meanwhile, RSL wins, leaving LA in last place in league play.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I was hoping the Galaxy would win. I hate them more than any team in the league, but I can't find myself ever rooting for a Mexican club.
You all need to read the PBP thread in News and Analysis. It's a goldmine. Oh, and I'm revoking the right to cheer for United for anyone who rooted for LA. Simply unacceptable. Even if they were playing a team captained by a reanimated Adolf Hitler.
Wishing ill upon one team does not mean you're hoping for good for the other. I'm happy LA lost. Very happy. Pachuca winning is just incidental.
Originally I was going to chug the bottle of vodka in the freezer and go for a run through the streets of Asheville if LA won (to get out the pent up ********ing aggression), but now I'm thinking I'll chug the Vodka just because I'm not tired. Good thing I only have class MWF.
I think about it differently. Sampson's MLS Cup win with LA glossed over what was a team in obvious decline. If LA had won the Superliga, there might not have been much incentive for change in LA. Now that they've lost, I fully expect Yallop and Lalas to have bullets put into the backs of their heads in a figurative sense and LA might find some people who know what they're doing and turn the franchise around. I do respect Yallop as a coach but I can't see him staying. Lalas is a complete assclown.
What a game. Chris Klein was all ove the place in the second half, but a 94th minute bicylce kick to tie it up? Wow.
If it makes anyone feel any better-- which I doubt it would-- Harrisburg won the USL2 championship. This doesn't really surprise me now. They were definitely a good team, and surprised me at the time, but our reserves still should have beat'em.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Galaxy a Mexican club? And better yet, they are the tail of MLS!
