true dat, although the texicans had me worried scoring so quickly early on. then again, they did the same exact thing versus the birds last year, and we trounced them.
In other news, it's sad to see that it looks like Keith Primeau is going to need to hang up his skates permanently. He was one of those guys that truly personified the blue collar aspect of Philadelphia pro sports. I wish him good luck in whatever he does next, and congratulate him on having the wisdom to know when to say when and enjoy his family.
Has Forsberg been here long enough to take over the captaincy? I don't see Gagne as a vocal enough leader.
Primeau hadn't been around all that long before he inherited the role. But I think after having a year with the team has really established himself as part of the team. I agree that Gagne doesn't seem to have that 'follow me' spark to him. Though he's likely great in the lockerroom. I prefer the type of leadership personified by Bobby Clarke, and Primeau.
was hatcher a captain prior to donning the orange and black? with the dallas stars i believe. and for what it's worth, wasn't he the captain for the flyers for the last half of last season?
Yes he was. And apparently he wasn't too comfortable with that role on the Flyers. Simply put, he was the captain of Primeau's team. And Hatch had other things to worry about, like those awfully speedy wingers that were going past him.
i can agree with some of the rule changes, but i think that one changed the essence of what hockey is. it made teams less physical, less scrappy, unable to exploit their size, which were the defining factors of some teams (the fly-boys included).
what annoys me far more is how much we are going to have to hear the media slobbering over eli manning all week.
ok clear something up for me...I heard that there was a taunting penalty called that allowed the giants to tie the game (I was leaving work and heading to my car at the time)...if it happened, was this a warranted call? because in football there has got to be trash talking on pretty much every second of every play, was this incident that outrageous enough to bring about 15 yards? I find it pretty amazing that a ref would take the game into his hands like that.
closing seconds of the 4th quarter, and the giants are in the beighborhood of a 50-yard FG attempt. trent coles apparently kicks someone on the ground, taunting him, and is hit with a flagrant personal foul ... 15 yarder. now the g-men are 35 yards out, which is a no-brainer FG.
I actually just saw the cover of the metro...apparently the kick was a shot to the groin...bad mistake.
hernie manages to get a grand slam, and that's not good enough to beat a sub-.500 team. i don't know what to say, other than my optimism is beginning to wane ... just like last season, it's deja vu, all over again.
shhhhh.... don't tell anyone but.... (i still think the dodgers are going to knock those runs in, even if the game's over)
