Jose Azevedo finish with the same time of the yellow shirt Galdeano and in the company of Lance Armstrong, in the peloton.
Jose Azevedo is know in 11.th place.
twomorrow starters the hardest part of the Tour, the climb of the mountains.
Jose Azevedo job is to protect the yellow shirt of Galdeano.

Big turn of events today with 5km to go Lance Armstrong along with 2 other riders took off.

It was just a matter of time before he would take over the Yellow Jersey.

He is now the leader of the race by over a minute.

    Lance Armstrong is THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also Jose Azevedo also finished todays stage in a GREAT position. He finished tenth.

Just to let you know how one stage makes a diffence.

The leader yesterday, Igor Ganzalez is now in 11th place overall.

Lnace Armstrong is the favorite to win, but you never know.

Jose Azevedo is having a WONDERFUL Tour De France!!!

Just finish watch the race on OLN TV 151 the replay at 3pm and you see Jose Azevedo was the only Once teamate, that stay with Igor Galdeano, the ex yellow shirt.. Jose Azevedo could have done much better but he had to stay with Igor Galdeano, and work for the team. Roberto Heras did all the work for Lance Armstrong. Was a great race and if you never watch a climb race in the tour, its the right time to do it, another replay at 9 PM. you can imagine the sacrifice this guys have to make.
Jose Azevedo was mention many times in the last 3 km of the race, he basically carry Igor Galdeano to the finish line.

    Frank,

But let's not take anything away from Lance Armstrong.
Yes you have people working for him, but he is great.

What he overcame with cancer just 4 years ago.

I got no problem with Lance Armstrong. What I don't like about Lance Armstrong he don't do anything for cycling, all he does he prepares himself for the tour, and he has a good team, Heras did all the work. Did you watch the race?
Was good to see Jose Azevedo pushing the yellow jersey over the mountain.
Repeat at 9 Pm tonight OLN TV 151 on the DISH

True he only cares about the Tour De France, but he does go into ther races.

He was the pusher for Heras in the Vuelta a Espana, where Heras won.

It's just incredible what this guy could do, when he wants to turn it on, he is unbeatable.

Unless something happens in this Tour, I don't see anyone beating him.

Lance wanted Heras to win the stage yesterday, but at the end, Beloki took off to try to win the stage and Lance had to go.

Did you see how easliy he got away from Beloki?

And he always gives plenty of appreciation to his teammates. He couldn't do it without them.

As no rider can do it without a good team.

US Postal Service is the best team out there.
I thought ONCE was, but there coach still has not named a leader of that group.

It should be Beloki because he is the better rider and has stayed in very could positions in the past.

Jose Azevedo should have stayed with Beloki and not be told to come back for Gonzalez.

The coach has alot to learn.

With Azevedo staying with Beloki which it seems like he could have, it would have gave Azevedo a better position overall and helped ONCE.

Even though I think Lance would have won the stage anyway.

How old is Jose Azevedo? he had one great race in the Giro of Italy in 2001, finishing overall in 5th place. This year he miss the Giro to concentrate on the Tour of France and La Vuelta in Spain.
Once team pays Jose Azevedo a lot money so he most follow instructions. He was suppose to be a middlemen last year, is know one of the best in the Once Team a great achievement. I keep say anything in the top 20 is great. Over 180 racers and its is first Tour.

    He was born on 9/19/73.

He is 28 almost 29 years old.

He seems very good, just a shame he can't ride for Beloki instead.

He would come in a much better position just like Roberto Heras.

    He is a old pro.
I believe he race for Boavista and Maia Milaneza.
Maia Milaneza team qualify for the I division of Cycling they had a strong show in La Vuelta 2001, also a Vuelta a Portugal, or the Tour of Portugal.

    Jose Azevedo Portuguese Hero
He went after Lance Armstrong push with him for many mountain Km's, he could'not brake him but he finish the stage in 12 and jump two spots in the overall is know 6th.

    First Tour and what Tour?
Opening doors for other Portuguese Bikers. The point is the portuguese Cyclers they rather race in Portugal, were they make decent money, why risk injury on the demanding France Tour.

    Frank,

Jose Azevedo is having a GREAT Tour De France.

    Lance continues to be Lance.

And the 2 bests teams are
    UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE
    ONCE

The first one being Lance's team and the second being Jose Azevedo's team.

I agree, we have some good cyclists in Portugal.
It would be nice to see more at the Tour De France.

Jose Azevedo signed a two year extension.
What position is the Once Team? Its got to be close to the top.
Lets hope he makes it all the way to Paris in the top 10.
Maia Milaneza cycling team, his one of the best they will be in La Vuelta, believe in September.

Another painful day for the bikers, Jose Azevedo maintains the n. 6 spot.
    Botero won the stage.

Let's hope Azevedo can survive the next couple days of mountain, its getting harder by the day.

Botero went from 17th position to 7th overall, just 20 seconds behind Jose Azevedo.
