Full f.ucking disclosure? Oh, f.uck right off. Now. For a start she underwent a plethora of tests in advance of Paris some of which precisely answered this lie. She was found to have elevated levels of testosterone, but no more so than many other female boxers competing. She underwent chromosomal testing without any problems. She also underwent all these tests in Tokyo without any problems. And every time she has entered a sanctioned tournament, she has passed all the tests. There is however, one tournament where she didn’t pass. The IBA sanctioned World Championships last year. The IBA is a Russian run organization, the president of which is a friend of Putin’s. Her problems started when she beat the undefeated Russian boxer, Amineva. The only way to scrub this blemish from Amineva’s record was to somehow disqualify Khelif. So, hey, whaddya know? Can’t be having that, disqualify her, throw her out, we can’t have Amineva with anything less than a perfect record. So she was disqualified, Amineva’s unbeaten record was restored and all’s right in Putin world again. Tests had suddenly been discovered that said she was in violation of doping and testosterone protocols. Nothing was said about her chromosomal makeup. Except. Except Putin’s best bud and President of the IBA, Umar Kremlev, leaked the information that she supposedly had XY chromosomes. Not that she had XY Chromosomes but “I hear she has XY chromosomes”. When the IBA was asked for the tests, for the methods, for the results, for the labs where the tests were done, well, hey whaddya know again? Those tests, those methods, those labs are confidential, we can’t release them, you’ll have to take our word. The IBA is not a recognized organization by the IOC or any other governing sporting organization in the world other than itself. Its tests and testing methods are never released for public scrutiny or for any independent scientific review. Appeals are handled in-house, not by outside scientific labs. Their results are printed and that’s it. No test results have ever been presented that show Khelif has XY chromosomes. Ever. And you come on here in the guise of scientific rigor, truth telling and full disclosure to parrot right wing shite and talking points telling us that “she” has XY chromosomes based on off the record phone calls to Moscow “journalists” who are, like you, just interested in the truth? Yeah, f.uck right off.
well that definitely wouldn;t surprise me..... It's the one issue where you can easily stir up an unbelievably out of proportion sh!tstorm over a pretty basic argument...
This is so obviously another Russian disinformation campaign that it beggars belief that anyone except the deluded and disingenuous could parrot the argument. Russia was never going to take its exclusion from the Games without some sort of reaction and this was it. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t more. But look what they’ve done. Destroyed a boxer (yes, I know she’s still in the tournament) and her life will never be the same and reignited this whole transgender/queer debate to such an extent that JD Vance is now promoting it as fact on stump speeches. Just float it out there like pollen in the air and wait, as I say, for the deluded, the disingenuous and the rubes to run with it sowing confusion and discontent.
Yep yet another example of misinformation that permeates the internet and drives more division in the world today and there are plenty of ppl happy to believe it coz it suits their agenda. Truth be damned.
Women’s boxing is something I don’t have a huge interest in and it’s something that really only pops up on my radar every 4 years if I’m honest. So the truth is that I barely have a dog in the fight, have zero idea of who’s good, what’s a shock result, what’s expected. With all that said, I really feel for this Algerian boxer. It would appear that all her career she’s worked hard and played by the rules. She has never failed a doping test, never been disqualified for foul play, just got on with her training, her fighting, her career. There’s no doubting that she definitely does not fit many or indeed any standards of feminine beauty and there’s also no doubting that she does have a somewhat masculine appearance, based on standard norms. Maybe she does or doesn’t have a condition that causes her to produce more testosterone than usual, but even if she does, that’s hardly any reason to punish her. It’s not like we punish any men for having lower than usual testosterone. But it’s so obvious that she’s a pawn in the game. Use her, abuse her, lie about her, make her part of your nefarious campaigns. That she’s lost 9 times in her career, all to other women, hasn’t caused any of these trolls to stop and think that maybe they’re on the wrong side of this. She’s in the equivalent of the semis, so is guaranteed a medal, but what’s been lost in all this is that she has been in tears pretty much after every bout. How is that in any way fair? By any standards? She has been vilified for reasons that have nothing to do with anything she has done; she has been attacked for reasons that have nothing to do with anything she has done; she has been used to foment hate and division for reasons that have nothing to do with anything she has done; all this has happened to her from many who would call themselves Christian, kind, family oriented, understanding and all around good people. They’re not, they’re scum.
We're seeing more of the effects of misinformation in England following the tragic killing of three little girls in Southport. Mosques are being attacked because of internet posts claiming the killer is a Muslim . Within hours of a stabbing attack in northwest England that killed three young girls and wounded several more children, a false name of a supposed suspect was circulating on social media. Hours after that, violent protesters were clashing with police outside a nearby mosque — the first of several violent protests in across England. Police say the name was fake, as were rumors that the 17-year-old suspect was an asylum-seeker who had recently arrived in Britain. The suspect charged with murder and attempted murder was named Thursday as Axel Rudakubana, born in the U.K. to Rwandan parents. By the time a judge said the teen suspect could be identified, rumors already were rife and right-wing influencers had pinned the blame on immigrants and Muslims. “There’s a parallel universe where what was claimed by these rumors were the actual facts of the case,” said Sunder Katwala, director of British Future, a think tank that looks at issues including integration and national identity. “And that will be a difficult thing to manage.” Online misinformation fueled tensions over the stabbing attack in Britain that killed 3 children (msn.com)
On a happier note - Suni Lee is a baller. Certainly Biles deserves all the credit, but Suni overcame some serious health issues to be back. Super pro if of her and the facts she’s Hmong is awesome
Canada's Ethan Katzberg won the gold medal in the men's hammer throw at the Paris Olympics on Sunday with a dominating performance. The 22-year-old Katzberg, from Nanaimo, B.C., opened with an Olympic record throw of 84.12 metres. He is the reigning world champion and also had the second-best throw at 82.28 metres. No other competitor hit the 80-metre mark.
I don't think they are the same, though. I believe I've read (and I've tried to research this thoroughly) that Khelif has (or may have) Swyer Syndrome. She can be born with a vagina and female reproductive organs, and also possibly have XY chromosomes (leading to higher testosterone than XX females. Semanye, in her own words, said she was born with a vagina but no female reproductive organs. Instead she has internal testes, resulting in much higher testosterone levels.
Good shout, I went to edit my comment but the window had passed. Sure, Semenya and Khelif are not the same. What I meant to edit was precisely that, they’re not the same, but very similar. Higher than usual testosterone, though for different reasons. The IOC/WADA could do with being a lot more vocal on Khelif because they did mishandle the Semenya case and you’d like to think that they’ve learned. Probably not, though. It should be said that the higher levels of testosterone are, in and of themselves, not any reason for disqualification. As I understand it, while most women are within a bell curve for testosterone levels, some are outside this due to natural reasons and that has been accounted for scientifically, endocrinologically, whatever. It’s only when they exceed another higher level, that it’s considered proof of doping rather than natural; Kehilf is outside the bell curve but inside the higher level, therefore acceptable. I have read about the Swyer Syndrome thing. It’s interesting, it fits the facts and allows for a certain face saving on both sides but especially for the rubes who bought the Russian propaganda hook, line and sinker and were more than happy to spread it for political reasons. But yes, Swyer Syndrome might be a thing. Except. Except, no one close to Khelif nor the IOC nor any doping agency has evinced this at all, ever. I think, with zero evidence to support it, that if Swyer Syndrome was a thing here for her, it’d be already out there. As it stands, the only “evidence” we have for her having anything other than XX chromosomes is the off the record word of some dodgy Russian pal of Putin’s who had very good reason to smear her. That’s it. No tests, no hospital records, no therapy sessions, no exemptions sought, nothing. Sure, speculate away about Swyer Syndrome, but that’s all it is. Speculation. Not proof. For me, the biggest tell about the propaganda and dark arts nature of this situation rather than the scientific, is that Putin and his pals have offered to pay Carini (the Italian boxer who shamefully started this whole thing because she was a really bad loser) the same amount of money should have won had she won the gold. More grist for the mill for the rubes about how wonderful Putin is and more discord sowed.
This is going to sound stupid, but I haven’t let that stop me so far. Was watching some of the track events yesterday, Men’s 100m, 1500m etc. Watching the finishes (especially the 100m) in super slow mo. And I really expected some/all the winners to be taken down, called back, etc because of transgressions found on tape by the cameras. This VAR thing is a bad idea, I’m thinking, it has me viewing all sports believing all results will be overturned.
I agree with the above. Probably both sides jumped the gun with their opinions both for and against Khelif. The misinformation out there is seemingly impossible to get around. And with AI firmly being embedded into all walks of life, there will come a time in the near future where it will be impossible to tell what is real and what is fake, what is true and what is a lie. Scary times.
If you are born with a vagina the rest becomes (or should become) irrelevant. Simply state that publicly to whatever sporting control organization is involved, and that should be the end of it, no matter how male you look or how much testesterone you produce, or whether you have an abnormality such as balls inside your body. At that point you are one in 100 million and whatever unusuality is your physical essence is unlikely to be occurring enough in replication that it has to be considered "an issue" at all. While I agree that this furore is probably originating with Putin's crowd of wankers - it needs to be pointed out that the flip side of this is that this wouldn't be an issue if there weren't (in the past ten years or so) a well organized attack upon women's sport by people seeking to demand that people born as men with penises and balls and the testerone-muscle power that goes with that to get to compete now in women's sports. So, there needs to be the counter statement also - (and I'd be interested to know what Khelif thinks of this principle - basically put - if you were born with a penis and you didn't like it or had it shafted then I'm all for helping you find ease in society as a trans person, but you can't compete in women's sports. End of. That's just a tough break in your life. We all have 'em. get over it .... there are other things to do in life. Now - that said - One can get erringly called / lashed with the term "phobic" for vocalizing such a proposition -or the idea that similarly born men who have committed rape upon women shouldn't be housed in women's prisons - however, I know this nomenclature to be incorrect, as I am putting this proposition as a rational human only, and I am not "phobic" of trans people. This does not mean that I will grant these spokespeople or the spokespeople of any group the right to simply arrant nonsense, posited as some absurd necessity of equality/diversity. And I don't care what the over-extended in political correctness, woke morons wish to call me for pursuing this fairly reasonable line of logic. Just because a logic hurts someone's feelings - that doesn't change the proper base of it's logic.
@newterp Appreciate you backing the Americans on RAWK and the implied accusations of doping. I feel like responding with… ‘you mean just like others who accuse LFC of peds during the Jurgen era?’ or… ‘Ah, like Mo Farah you mean’ Tribalism can be frustrating
