I don;t care about the money aspect. It's (for me) the way to organize an event for all the best athletes in the sports where the audience isn't as plugged in and ready to go, week-in/week-out whenever there is a competition Basically -it is the pinnacle of all the sports that we all know should be included.... it is and never will stand a chance to be, the pinnacle of any of these others.....
Delay and I had a fun analysis of Ian Woosnam as a tri-athalon man back a few years ago when I was jokingly making the case to exclude Golf as an actual "sport" I wouldn;t go that far, really - but nonsense like Darts, Chess and Snooker should cease to be called sports. they are games only.....
quite amazing really, docked 6 points and still made it through. dunno if that's a comment on their mental toughness, or the stupidity of the Olympic football qualification process. maybe both.
I don't have a major stake in this fight - but I agree with the general consensus that a biological man shouldn't be allowed to compete against women.
It's sad that so many can't stand up and say this (and by "so many," I mean those in positions of power to actually make rules for this). It's pretty much universally agreed on by the general public and it should be a no-brainer.
Having done an IM and a lot of half Irons, they are difficult. Working the entire body and pushing you to sheer exhaustion. And the pounding of a marathon after you've just done 112 miles on the bike is killer.
a guy I worked with was into IM events. I swear I had more fat on my thumbs than he did on his whole body. the bastard.
Tearing up watching the US (from Michigan even) win bronze after 50+ years in the men’s 10k. Love the Olympics
USA Swimming - while doing well - seems to have taken a bit of step back / changing of the guard. France was great - Marchand is the new Micheal Phelps - and Australia always there as well.
Just to close the loop on this whole odd situation with the boxer - she's apparently a female from the start who just expresses too much testosterone. Not much she can do about it. seems like a lot of misinformation was presented about her situation.
I saw a great thread on Twitter where the author showed legit evidence that the disinformation was started by Putin supporting Russians in the IBO.
She has lost several times, curiously to Irish boxers twice, I believe. Have yet to hear any of those winners complain. She fought in Tokyo without any problems or a single complaint. She is the same as Caster Semenya, the S African runner. The problem is the IOC and WADA don’t have any protocols for women who produce more testosterone than permitted levels. And then the trolls wade in happy to sow misinformation and discontent and the rubes start seething with outrage and pearl clutching.
Full story here for those who have been duped into supporting Russia and Putin with appeals to common sense and morality.
