The USA's performance in the Algarve Cup seems to have spawned a plethora of posts bemoaning the usual doomsday scenarios about the USA being incapable of winning WWC '03.

However, no other country seemed to have had a stellar Algarve, either.

Any other country's fans voicing apoplectic reactions to their teams based on the Algarve showing?

Not especially. I consider the Algarve (as well as the four nations tourney) to be more of a 'pre-season' warm up than anything else.

And honestly, you can't really look into it as being a sign of things to come. Simply because in a year like this, coaches will use opportunities like this to mess around with lineups, formations, etc.

world cup environtment is so magical, no one can predict exactly what any team can do at the world cup, its been proven time and time again that a less favourite team does great while favourite teams fail, so, the US team might have an extra energy and spirit and so are the other teams. We might have our best performance and win again this year.
