Miami haters should be thrilled. They go up 3-0 at home on bottom dwellers Orlando and somehow manage to lose 4-3.
LAFC's roster is about as stacked as is possible under MLS rules and yet...they got combed when the chips were down in the CCL away in Mexico. Just a reminder that the last mile towards regional dominance is the hardest one and MLS still not really there when it matters. As an aside, if there is one thing League's cup has done for me it is help me learn a lot more about the MFL teams. I really really like this Toluca team. They're a dope team.
What’s going on with LAFC? They are 1-2-2 in their last 5 MLS games, worse if you count League’s Cup. Over those 5 games they have scored a measly 1.0 goals per game. Where did their vaunted offense go? Age catching up?
Some of that is rotations ahead of the CCL matches. They clearly prioritized that. I will say, however, that their win in Minnesota and draw in San Diego actually flattered them, so it's been even worse on the field then in the standings. imho 1) there is reason to wonder how good Son actually is at this point. 2) The league has somewhat figured out how to deal with Bouanga and, 3) honestly, their defense continues to be weak. But if you troll around LAFC discussion areas, it's all the coaches fault.
What a great MLS weekend. Marc crushed 4-1 at home by Houston who fully deserved it. Son mostly invisible. Bouanga not dressed (didn’t catch why) LAFC’s defense and central midfield Swiss cheese.
WTH is going on in MLS? Three of the top 5 teams in the Eastern Conference are NE, CHI and DC(?!). And perennial top of the table dweller PHI is in last place? Did MLS randomly reassign rosters? The West is less weird — only SJ on top and SD in the bottom 3 are surprising. But the East shakeup?
RSL’s has a young American phenom named Zavier Gozo. He just turned 19 a few days ago and already has 5g + 3a in 12 games, including a goal tonight vs Houston. His 0.68 g+a/90m rate is excellent for someone so young. His athleticism is off the charts - even his back flip celebrations are a sight to behold. More importantly is the way he scores his goals. His creativity and confidence to create something out of nothing are world class. Look up videos of his goals if you have a chance. Some higher ups are pushing for him to make the WC roster despite being uncapped, to play the role of X-factor in a game we need a spark off the bench. Unlikely to happen, but I don’t hate it. Gozo could be US’s next big thing in the world of soccer. I’m excited to see what his future brings!
There’s a joke in there somewhere using Sounders part-owner Drew Carrey and his opening line “welcome to Whose Line is it Anyway, the show where everything’s made up, and the points don’t matter”.
Twelman just said the Miami supporters group boycotted tonight. I thought he was going to say because they’d not won in their new home stadium, but no, it was because they didn’t think the players acknowledged them enough. So now the players are pointing to the crowd and the badges. What a bunch of whiny babies. The players didn’t acknowledge you enough? I’m not sure how people like that navigate life.
Sam Sarver scored a stoppage-time game-winning goal for FC Dallas last night at San Jose. Beer cans were thrown onto the field and Sarver grabbed one off the ground and shotgunned it.IMMEDIATE MLS heritage. pic.twitter.com/NZjHVxzfM2— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) May 17, 2026 this guy with a stoppage time winner and cely of the year.
Ok, I’m going to blow your mind here. If LAFC loses next weekend at Seattle (possible, maybe even probable) and we beat Houston at home (possible at least) then we will be ahead of LAFC in the standings heading into the World Cup break.
entitled clowns all of them, as if they did anything of special note for Messi to be the player he is, Main Character syndrome ramped up to a 1,000
