Wow just saw the Vancouver v Philly result. 7-0 is crazy result scoreline for 5th vs 1st. Games in hand it’s probably more like 1st v 2nd.
If it’s in “other teams and players” then spoilers are fair game. Go for it! (I just didn’t like it when posters would put the results for a game I was taping in the game day threads.)
I didn't want to ruin you experience so wanted to make sure, however I forgot my initial thoughts, I will say Seattle seems to be hitting a rough spot and Nashville is one step closer to a Cup, and I believe it will be a Nash/Minn final
Austin pulled it out there in the final minute of stoppage time. Austin-Nashville final - the US Open Cup final everyone was expecting....
a final no one above the Mason - Dixon line will have an interest in. I'd like to see Nashville win it as it would be the first Major title in Tennessee professional sports (as far as I know) and I can wear the 20 dollar Nashville jacket I bought on sale
My niece and her family live in Austin and the city isn’t like most of Texas, so I may pull for them . But the team is hard to get excited about. I’m not sure why, but it may be their long-standing lack of offense. (Same with CLT but they recently have turned that around.) But Tennessee finally winning something would be cool. I’m so conflicted that I may not even watch.
At age 38 Messi has 44 goal contributions (26g, 18a) in 27 appearances (25 starts). How can anyone not appreciate the GOAT of futbol? I get he isn’t human, but still.
PS - If he had Dejan as a partner instead of the spit/biter he would probably have an MLS record 50+ goal contributions! (Suarez has only 10 goals despite playing on a top 4 team alongside Messi - how is that even possible?) Speaking of Dejan he is tied for 4th in the Golden Boot race with 18 goals. And that is playing on a crappy team!
Playoffs going on. I’m here rooting for a 1st time champion. Go Vancouver or San Diego! really, of course, anyone but LAFC. I think in my opinion the most likely champs are: LAFC Vancouver Miami
Playoffs have been great so far - no real insight from me, but there's lots of drama. Especially the wild card games, and the Chicago Philly 2nd half.
I’m also cheering on all the teams who haven’t won it, in order of how long they’ve been in the league. Except Cincinnati is a little higher. After that all the teams besides Miami and LAFC. And then a world ending apocalypse. And then LAFC.
Skydog's Charlotte FC really crapped the bed tonight, that goal was matador defense at its finest, hard to seem them bounce back on the away game.
For some reason CLT are almost impossible to get excited about. Every time I try to watch one of their games I get bored & switch it off. It makes sense when I think about it though. A Duke fan like myself could never cheer for a team coached by Dean Smith.
Well the good news for the Miami haters is that the $50 mil team is in danger of a repeat 1st round flameout. It will be decided in their home game vs Nashville Saturday at 8. I, probably alone, hope they survive this. I’m ok with them losing after this game but Messi has worked his ass off in MLS and deserves more joy than a 2nd consecutive early exit. Plus I like to watch the team play. Probably worse news for us Galaxy fans is that the addition of Song has LAFC firing on all cylinders. I think they are the strongest MLS team right now, with Vancouver making its own claim to that moniker. The bad news for both of those teams is they will now face each other in a do-or-die single elimination match. Vancouver’s fault for letting lowly Dallas beat them in their final regular season game and knock them out of WC 1st place. Seattle is less talented up top than these western front runners but they are fighters and Schmetzer always has them ready. They are playing at Minnesota for survival Saturday at 4. My home state team continues to be a yawner - they are all even after two games vs, NYCFC despite not having scored a goal. Their fate is decided Friday at home at 7pm. Doesn’t matter anyway because the winner of that match will likely get knocked out by Philly in their next game. Cincy is playing their 3-game decider at home vs CLB on Saturday at 6. No idea what will happen there and I don’t really care. Finally, San Diego should dust off Portland in this weekend’s 9pm Sunday closer. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Seattle v Minnesota clash.
I'm definitely rooting for Vancouver to win it all, they have a sort of bizarro LA Galaxy 2024 vibe to them, with the losing the final game of the season and addition of a German legend to augment their already solid team... Plus they've never won so that would be cool. I loathe every other team in the West that has a chance, the LAFakers, Seattle, SD (LAFakers lite). I'm not impressed by the East this year again, but I feel great joy every time I see Miami struggle vs lowly teams in the playoffs. I am rooting for yet another first round exit for them, haha. I suppose I can get behind Philly in the East, I rooted for them hard the year they lost to the LAFakers in PKs.
Suarez is suspended for Miami's big game 3 decider vs. Nashville for petulantly kicking a Nashville player during game 2 that wasn't caught live. What a waste of talent he is.
I just looked up the date for the LAFC Vancouver match and its on Nov 22! MLS playoff format sucks - that's forever from now. Talk about killing all excitement.
Well the FIFA International Break is November 10th to the 18th. Are you suggesting that MLS schedule a playoff game during the break?
