The Vancouver FO may have given up on the team, but the players sure didn't. I don't think anyone expected them to whup Portland that badly last night (with Portland being gifted the home-field advantage). I really hope they ride this high into the LAFC games and punch them in the mouth. In that last meeting, when LAFC beat them in stoppage time, while LAFC was missing Bouanga, Vancouver was apparently missing 6 starters for international callouts, so let's hope they can exact a little revenge....
Multiple sources tell me that #Quakes74 is in advanced discussions with Bruce Arena to make him San Jose's next manager.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) October 25, 2024 I wouldn’t even be mad. More Bruce is always best.
Not without some support and probably not anytime soon. Their designated players had a combined total of 10 goals and 16 assists in 2024. One of the 3 Gruezo is a defensive midfielder with 0g 0a in 1977 min. Another Lopez with 6g and 2a is under contract until 2026 with option years through 2028. Unless there is a rule change, they will be only able to dump one of these three during the off-season. San Jose's FO rivals the old Galaxy FO for incompetence so its not clear that they will pony-up for a buyout.
Minnesota United just beat RSL in penalties for the second time, and will be our opponents for the Conference Semis. They are on a bit of a hot streak lately, stout defensively and have speed on the counter. But at home I still give us the edge, I can't wait for this game!
The results tonight were fascinating. RSL were fading so I can believe they were dumped. We have one job.
Well if we make it to MLS cup final, it won’t be in freezing conditions. Columbus shocked by Red Bull
It's really annoying that the MLS scores page doesn't show the current win/loss ststus of each series. It only shows the scores of each game so you have no idea the current status of each series. You have to find the MLS playoffs bracket page to find this info or look at the earlier games.
I always think Danny Mwanga plays for the goats. Bouanga subbed off the goats throwing in the towel this match.
Vancouver pasted LAFC. Wow. On to game 3. Can’t believe Columbus bounced either. Seattle goes through.
Good thing there’s no aggregate @lafc 🤷 pic.twitter.com/jB2y41PKuH— Vancouver Whitecaps FC (@WhitecapsFC) November 4, 2024
Good results for the Galaxy in the other games this weekend. Let’s hope that trend continues next weekend.
No luck with Vancouver taking out LAFC. You could say Vancouver was a little unlucky in the series, as they had opportunities to knock LAFC out of the playoffs and couldn't quite do it. But the west semis are set -- LAFC hosting Seattle and LA Galaxy hosting Minnesota.
I like how LAFC go thru despite losing 4-3 on aggregate to Vancouver after 3 matches. What a dumb format.
High drama in the Orlando/Charlotte match. Orlando losing 1-0 gets a PK in the 97th minute (of 8 minutes stoppage time). VAR inexplicably recommends a review. The referee keeps the PK. Charlotte saves the PK, but Orlando scores on the rebound.
