So this happened. OH MY WORDRAUL RUIDIAZ SEES THE KEEPER OFF THE LINE AND..... 😱😱😱 pic.twitter.com/J42xDEyZE4— Major League Soccer (@MLS) July 23, 2021
That was the most dead game, but that goal was great. Austin FC are really struggling for goals. The whole team looks so scared to go forward. No one wants to be the player who dribbles someone or plays that forward pass that might get intercepted or it might work. Their DPs have not worked out so far, and I don't think even Ibra would get 10 goals for them. Lots of problems with their midfield and forwards.
Im with you until the Ibra prediction. We weren’t very good and he set MLS scoring records with us. He in fact would be Austin’s dream addition. I’ve only watched a couple of their games but they looked decent in midfield and have a good defense - they just have no goal scorers and are tentative in and around the box. Zlatan would fix both those problems.
Just a tip of the hat to SKC, it’s been what a decade of being very good almost every season, rarely terrible and a few of trophies along the way.
Very true. Seattle/Atlanta/LMAOFC get all the press, but SKC has quietly been consistently VERY VERY good for a decade.
Oh I got a real interesting scoop last night on why Austin FC still hasn't been able to get Djitte a work visa. I play soccer with this one girl who is friends with the wife of Austin FC's Chief Revenue or Operations Officer. I can't remember what the title was. But Austin signed Djitte a while back now, and he still hasn't been able to get his work visa and is stuck in this weird limbo. The reasoning is because Texas' Lt Governor, Governor, and Senators are super republican and hate Austin's politics with a passion. They are actively trying to delay and deny the Visa process to screw over Austin. This reminded me a couple of seasons ago how the league was wondering how we got Chicharito a visa in literally like 2 days. It's super good to have connections with your government because they can make your life hell.
Red states. Sigh. What a mess. Although I guess if they kill off enough of the people who vote for them this year, then new leaders can get elected next go around.... In happier news, last night LAFC gave up a goal in the final minute of stoppage time, again. This time turning a win into a tie. That's 3 points lost in about 30 seconds of game time in the past week. That should brighten everyone's day....
Top 3 are under a blanket with Colorado nipping at our heels. The lone standout in both conferences is NE Revs, only team with a PPG above 2
I don’t doubt that’s what you were told. But it doesn’t ring true to me. The Texas gov and legislature has a lot bigger matters to be concerned with, like UT moving to the SEC, that there really isn’t time to look at something this trivial. Moreover, the state govt has absolutely nothing to do with and no power at all over the visa process. To the extent there is political sway in that process, it’s democrats who have any power because this is just another branch of the Biden administration. Now, if you want to write it off to beaurocrstic ineptitude, I would buy that.
What a great result. We’ve had 2 or 3 weeks where our opponents trip over their own feet. Our nefarious plan is working!
Am I wrong in thinking that a number of MLS teams have seemingly given up on this season or thinking more about their pocket book than their place in the standings. Some examples: Portland - Trades Ebobisse for $1mm in GAM that can't be used this season. Colorado - Having their best season in a long time, sell Sam Vines for an undisclosed Transfer fee SKC - Sell Busio for a fee that can reportedly be worth $10m of which only $1.05mm is usable for the roster. LAFC - Trade former best 11 Mark Anthony Kaye for $1mm in GAM and Corey Baird for ~$700K while signing a Cristian Arango (a CF) as a DP for a ~$2.7mm transfer fee. Do they really need more offense?
I'm going to attempt to answer this. 1) You might be right 2) Sam Kroenke 3) They don't seem to have needed him that badly and $$ 4) F*ck them.
Don't forget today some Conca League action: 5 pm - Sporting KC vs Leon 7 pm - Seattle Sounders vs Tigres UANL
