Some 2019 scoring stats: Top goal scorers: 1. Vela 15. 2,3. Zlatan, Martinez 10 Most goals per 90m: 1. Vela 1.01 2. Zlatan 0.91 3. Nani 0.74 Most points (2 per goal + 1 per assist) : 1. Vela 39 (?!) 2. Zlatan 23 3. Martinez, 22 Most points per 90m: 1. Vela 2.6 2. Zlatan 2.1 3. Nani, 1.8 Clearly Vela is having a remarkable season. But another remarkable fact is that our own 37yo Zlatan -- with only 11 games under his belt -- is still MLS's 2nd leading scorer. Both in absolute terms and in terms of offensive efficiency. All those multi-million dollar DP's in their mid-twenties, playing every game? Not as productive. The Lion makes it look so easy it's easy to take his scoring prowess for granted. We shouldn't. I don't know how long he can keep this up, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
Good results for us last night around the league. Other then Chivas winning. However, even that helps as Portland will inevitably come charging up the table with all its home games left this season. Houston and Seattle losing help us. I think San Jose will be in the conversation for playoffs so I was happy that DC came back to tie.
Not to take anything from any of them, but I think it mirrors a recent trend of an exacerbating gap between MLS offenses and defenses. Of the 10 best goalscoring seasons in MLS history, 5 have come in the last 5 years, 4 since 2016 alone.
Well Austin FC just announced they have 30,000 season ticket deposits in just 24 hours... I live in Austin, and I am very tempted to put money down, but goddamn it's precourt. He scares me. I worry Austin FC will not get the funding it needs to compete in the MLS. Also it feels wrong to get season tickets to another MLS club that isn't the LA Galaxy. I live 20 minutes from the stadium and my wife really wants to get tickets. I'm torn.
As a single-entity league their franchise/operating fees get distributed back to all teams in the league, so in a way you are supporting the Galaxy.
Just think of it this way - some of your money will go to the replacement for Skejjkel next year.....
That's good news. From what I've read Precourt is a jerk but it's good for MLS and Austin if they end up with a successful MLS franchise. Plus most of my family lives there and so I may retire there.
Good city, but good luck. Housing is going up insanely fast, and prices are going up with it. It's getting harder and harder to live anywhere near Austin.
Not exactly. After all, their stadium will seat something under 21K. Can't exactly fit 30K in to that. If you read further in the story it talks about 30,000 seats sold, not exactly 30,000 STH UNLESS they are selling partial season plans and lumping those in with full STH.
Yep, aware. Was telling someone that the other day. I should buy there now - housing prices will probably double in the next ten years. (Barring an interruption from an impending recession. )
To put the numbers into perspective: I bought a house May of 2018 in Pflugerville. My house value has gone up 55k in about 1 year.

He’s looking like a man amongst boys out there, at the USL level. I’ll be surprised if a MLS team doesn’t make a move for him this summer.
Decent results around the league for us last night. I’m very wary looking at Portland and their home heavy remaining schedule. They will be a top 4 team by the time this is done. I really like our mentality on our road games...just makes the losses to NE and Colorado at home that much more infuriating.
I'm with you on Portland. I think they could end up being No.2 in the West behind Chivas2. Hard to believe we are doing as well as we are with Romain and Seb providing so very little. If those guys were having even average years things would be so much different/

1.06 million views already. Not sure which was more impressive - the shot or the social media pull? I’ll guess I will go with....... both.
Wonder what the longest non-goalkeeper goal is in MLS? Albright had one from the halfway links against Kansas and Beckham had one from a similar distance as Rooney also against Kansas.
