The keeper handball wasn't DOGSO imho. Two players covering. But if they do a VAR review, even if it's not a red, they should be able to call a fk and a yellow.
25 minutes in, and so far Montreal are having a hard time getting the ball out of their own half against Forge FC. As if the weekend wasn't bad enough...
And playoff (Move your mouse to reveal the content) playoff (open) playoff (close) Sunderland win a £90 million windfall in 2026/27 & 2027/28.
If they've got any sense they take the money and run back to the Championship, using the money to build a better foundation.
And, now, "Championship Sunday" (aka "decision day" for the EPL kicks off. Matches on NBC, USA, CNBC, Telemundo, SyFy, and the rest of Peacock. Not much to play for, other than Champions League slots. In the "feature" match (on NBC), EPL winners are losing to FA Cup winners Crystal Palace. It is a preview of the Community Shield match which will happen on August 9th, and features the FA Cup v. EPL winners After dominating the entire season, the wheels have fallen off at Liverpool, winless in four since wrapping up the title. Not that they really care, I imagine.
Final day of play in Serie A. --Naples and Inter Milan played Saturday and finished first and second. --Atalanta was in 3rd place entering Sunday's home game with Parma. Atalanta blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2. --4th place in the league and a Champions League place for the 2025-26 season was still in doubt. Juventus secured the spot with a 3-2 win at Venezia. --Roma won 3-0 at Torino to take 5th place and a spot in next year's Europa League. --Fiorentina scored a 3-2 win at Udinese and locked up 6th place and a chance to qualify for Europa League. --Lazio, which was in position to get into Europa League, fell at home to Lecce, 1-0, after the visitors played a good chunk of that match with just 10 men. Lazio is eliminated from European competition next year, as is AC Milan, who finished its season Saturday in 8th place. --At the bottom of the stack, Hellas Verona won 2-1 at Empoli, who were relegated to Serie B along with Venezia and Monza. Interesting tidbits: --The Juventus win at Venice was the team's first away win since February. --Lazio's home loss meant that the team won zero Serie A home games in the 2025 calendar year. The team's last home win came in December against last-place Monza. --Next year, Sassuolo and Pisa will be in Serie A, having finished first and second in Serie B. Playoffs will determine the 3rd team to go up. Spezia and Cremonese have first round byes. Palermo play at Juve Stabia and Cesena play at Catanzaro to see who advances to the playoff semifinals.
Como also has the richest owners in Serie A and spent €100 million last summer. They basically bought an entire new squad. Pisa’s owner is no slouch, but I doubt they have that kind of outlay this summer.
The power of big tobacco. They're going to have to work on the stadium if the quality of work on that tower in the background is anything to go by. I think it can hold 25,000 but is limited to under 15,000 at the moment (the stadium, not the tower).
That is amazing the stadium is right outside what looks like the medieval city walls. Europe looks so cool, I need to travel there for a game.
Pisa is a tiny place. It's like the size of Boulder. Not to take anything away from Boulder which I've found to be a lovely town.
