Stuttgart doing their part to try and finish 2nd in the Bundesliga just a year after being in the relegation playoff spot. Currently 7 spots for European play for the league, but if either Leverkusen wins the DFB Pokal final or Dortmund wins the Champions League final then an 8th position will be assigned. Koln is shrinking into relegation down 3-0 at the half to Heidenheim. Hoffenheim down 2-1 at the half against Munich, with all 3 goals scored in the first 8 minutes.
KCBD-11 (NBC) in Lubbock will be showing the Matadors home opener live on their MyTV subchannel tonight. That's the channel that showed FC Dallas games in the past.
Andre Kramaric with a 2nd half hat trick and HOFFENHEIM are up 4-2 over Munich and are 1 point behind Frankfurt for 6th place and a possible Champions League spot. Bayern Munich is minutes away from finishing 3rd in the Bundesliga.
Mainz finish the season with 9 games unbeaten, and 19 points out of those 9. Since Stefan Hoffman took over as manager they only lost 2 of 13, with those 2 being on the road against Leverkusen and Munich. Union Berlin get a stoppage time goal to just escape the relegation playoff spot. They'll have to figure out where the wheels came off this year after continuous improvement for the last decade. Bochum drops to that playoff spot after losing to Werder Bremen and will play Dusseldorf to try and stay up. Koln put up no fight at Heidenheim and are relegated. The remaining game is Frankfurt vs Leipzig. If it remains tied, Frankfurt finishes 6th. If Red Bull gets the win, then Hoffenheim get that spot.
Frankfurt holds on for the tie. Now we wait for the DFB Pokal and Champions League final to see if the Bundesliga gets one more spot in Europe.

AZ had a real chance to move ahead of Twente and get the last Champions League spot for the Eredivisie. Twente entered the day 2 points ahead and +1 on GD. AZ were up 3-0 at home over Utrecht at the half, while Twente was tied 0-0 away to Zwolle putting AZ in the spot on GD. AZ gave up a 55th minute goal, had a player sent off with a straight red in the 60th minute, and have since then given up goals in the 71st and 81st minutes. Twente and Zwolle have scored and sit at 1-1 with less than 10 minutes left.
Lubbock Matadors attendance last night was 3,487. Not bad for a game that started with the temp at 95 and finished with it still above 90.
The Wisconsin Conquerors had their NPSL home opener against Kansas City Sol. There were about 150 people there. Sol were winning 4-1 when I left. Ended 5-1.
Spokane 0-3 Madison (4,047) Omaha and Madison are still undefeated in USL1 play. Both have lost in Jagermeister Cup play.
