Nebraska-Omaha won again, this time defeating South Dakota 4-0, as Stephanie Kruse picked up 2 goals and an assist. Only 'upsets' yesterday were #7 Adelphi falling to #8 Lock Haven 2-0, and #24 Millersville being upended by unranked Edinboro.

Two and one, huh? I had her down for two goals and two assists, but I suppose that's between me and the scorekeeper. It was a good game and it looked like USD really had UNO on the ropes for the first 15 minutes or so, but once the Mavs found their feet on that potato patch of a field, it was all over. Both of Kruse's goals came from the penalty spot - one PK and one header off a sideline cross that caught USD's keeper leaning the other way. In other regional scores, Northern Colorado scraped out a pair of 1-0 wins over South Dakota State and Colorado Christian while Minnesota-Mankato thumped St. Cloud State 11-1.
Div II Conference ratings (so far) Albin-Jones Conference Ratings Something that A-J did in past years was to have strength ratings for conferences. Here is where the old ones are: http://www.soccerratings.com/Archive.html *** I’m not sure why this hasn’t been the case this year. Anyway, I wanted to see how much things have changed from last year to this year. I checked on the schools in the top 15 real conferences (i.e., those that do not have 1 or 2 members and are not just independents grouped together) – except for the University of Findlay, which I couldn’t find. 10/21 NSCAA rankings finally out NKU CBU UNO FPC Barry UCSD Lock Haven UCO Wheeling Jesuit Francis Marion http://www.nscaa.com/rank/20021021/D2W/0/index.html How can anyone make votes that would allow those last two to get in the top 10?
The last few days only saw one of the ranked teams suffer a defeat, but that one team managed to lose twice! #9 ranked (how did that ever happen?) Francis Marion managed to lose to Clayton College and USC Aiken within a 3 day span. Co-ranked #9 Wheeling Jesuit (who hasn't played any ranked team yet and still has managed to lose two games) slaughtered poor Salem International (180th in the A-J ratings) by a score of 13-2...
No. 3 UNO racked up their 12th shutout of the year Thursday with a 3-0 win at Minnesota-Morris. The Mavericks are now 16-0 (6-0) and are, at this moment, at halftime in their game at St. Cloud State (conference leaders in fouls, yellow cards and red cards! ). Elsewhere, Northern Colorado faces potential post-season elimination if they fail to beat North Dakota. Likewise, 2001 conference champion Minnesota State-Mankato will be eliminated if they can't beat South Dakota.
St. Cloud 0-6 UNO Six different Mavericks scored in this one as UNO finished the season with a perfect record on the road and at neutral sites. All that remains of the regular season is a home game with Augustana. BTW, here's your gaudy statistic of the week. Total shots during the UNO-MN Morris game: UNO 41 MNM 3

No. 22 Northern Colorado managed to stave off post-season elimination, beating North Dakota (who had already clinched a post-season berth) 4-1 in Greeley. In the other NCC match of importance today, Minnesota-Mankato edged an improved South Dakota 1-0 to seal the final tournament spot. The North Central Conference tournament looks like this: #1 UNO v. #4 North Dakota, #2 Northern Colorado v. #3 Minnesota-Mankato. All matches will be played at Ak-Sar-Ben Field in Omaha.

CCAA Standings as of 10-30-01 with only the 02 November games left to play, it looks like UCSD, CS Dominguez Hills, & Cal Poly Pomona are in the playoffs, with the winner of the San Francisco State vs Sonoma State game snagging the 4th spot. http://www.goccaa.org/womsoccer/standings.htm
11/1 games NKU defeats Virginia Wesleyan 2-0, with Sandfoss tallying both scores. http://www.nku.edu/~athletics/wsoccnov1y2k02.htm The rest of the ranked teams that played also won (but neither team has reported in from the Central Oklahoma - West Texas A&M game.)
NKU beat Indianapolis 3-0 today in the GLVC tournament. They'll play No. 4 seed Quincy while No. 2 Missouri-St. Louis plays No. 6 Bellarmine, 2-1 overtime winners over No. 3 SIU-Edwardsville. GLVC semifinals begin Friday. UNO beat Augustana 7-1 Saturday. They host the North Central Conference tournament, which starts Friday, and will play North Dakota at 11:30 a.m. while Northern Colorado will play Minnesota State-Mankato in the other semifinal.

Other CCAA Semi-Final UC Davis upset Cal Poly Pomona 2-1, in overtime, and will meet UCSD on Saturday in the championshp game. The Aggies thus avenged their earlier 1-0 defeat by the Broncos. http://ucdavisaggies.ocsn.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/110702aaa.html
Nebraska-Omaha continued its winning streak in the North Central Conference tournament today, beating North Dakota 3-0. In the other semifinal, Amber Dusosky scored twice as Minnesota State-Mankato beat Northern Colorado 2-1. Saturday's tournament final will be the third overall, all of which have featured UNO and MSM. UNO won the 2000 final 3-1 in Omaha and the 2001 final 2-1 in triple OT in Mankato.
UNO won its third straight North Central Conference tournament, beating Minnesota State-Mankato 5-2. UNO (19-0) sealed the first double in conference history and all but assured themselves of the top seed in the Central region. The breakdown will most likely be thus: 1) UNO 2) Truman State 3) Northern Colorado/Northern Sun winner
