The fries aren't good, but the caramelized onions on the burgers? Miles ahead of any other fast food burger.

And agreed about Five Guys being too expensive. I think I've been to sit-down restaurants and paid about the same amount for a better burger and fries.

For those of us who remember the original Five Guys locations it’s just not the same and not worth the high prices. Got off a plane in Atlanta today and there’s a Five Guys now in Terminal C.

Go to Social Burger at a United or Spirit game. That's the local place I mentioned.

I saw one in London. Quite a change from "hey, they just opened a location in Merrifield!"

Usually like to eat before the game, don't like having to worry about halftime lines or stadium prices or missing any part of the game.

FWIW, the big Dutch Orange bus has stopped at a Buccee's on its way to Arlington for tomorrow's match. :D

Let's bring it back on point....what burger would Artan have chosen?

Around here? Big buns is the best chain that uses halal meat.

The Merrifield location was kind of a joke. I was in there opening day / week, they were not filling the bags with fries and the franchisee was obsessing over the peanut shells. She was all dressed up and kept sweeping them up and didn’t understand what made Five Guys special.

H street understood it and was convenient to my office. Used to walk to the Old Town one every weekend and then later drove to the Beauregard one when I moved.

Original Tommy burger. The habit and In N Out are good burgers too.

Tommy's and In-N-Out are examples I give (used to give...) for the difference between acquisition based on projected need and acquisition based on confirmed need. Tommy's, the burgers are already on the grill when you hit the register. In-N-Out, they only go on after you order.

Whichever he chooses, he can buy a lot of them...

Somali referee Omar Artan, who was denied entry to the United States to officiate at the World Cup, will still receive his full tournament fee.

Back to the WC. I hate the Fox bug for substitution. These 90 year old eyes can't distinguish between bright and dim. Why not just take the line off when the sub is made? Very clear then.

Well, at least Artan was spared the indignity.

So referees doing both roles need/get two different kits?

Or, now that I think about it, are the officials only given the match kits for the exact matches they do? That's probably it now, right? Several tournaments back, I think Geiger posted a photo that showed he was given all available colors. Once they moved to printing the match information on each jersey, they probably stopped that practice.

Could be worse. Last night I saw an ad on Telemundo and a guy sprays down his shorts.

Picture won't post but its "the circle game" hand signal. Which yes, has been corrupted by some right-wing types, particularly in the U.S., as a white supremacist symbol, either seriously or as a joke to get reactions from left-wing types.

I don't know if that is known in Australia, but seems like a dumb move regardless.

Random thought, given how FIFA and everyone else keep statistics and such... there likely won't be a single goal scored in the 24', 25, 69', or 70' minutes at all this tournament. Just for historical comparisons, that will mess with stuff. Though 2022 greatly messed with all the stoppage time records already.
