I just thought it would be funny to post this from an article in our local paper regarding a new sports facility being built. The whole article can be view HERE for those interested in Montgomery County sports stuff, but here was the quote I thought was funny.

Yes soccer is nothing but a sport that involves watching a child (a girl nonetheless in this example) kicking a ball, while the parent (note that it's the paternal figure) is irritated because they're missing a real sport.

Okay I may be reading into it a bit too much, but I always get a chuckle to how soccer is treated sometimes.

I've noticed the PC fake paternalism alot. Parents who are there to watch their kids do anything but. Whether it be work or listening to or watching a game. Why have kids and why have kids in sports if you're going to ignore them?

Maybe it's just my enthusiasm as a first time parent, but I can't wait for my 4-month old daughter to start participating in various activities and sports (hopefully Soccer!). She's already mastered the kicking motion!

I'm an ass at my kids games. Especially if I've been to a DC game shortly beforehand. I can't stand still watching them play. It's great and horrible all at once.

I can echo such thoughts. Its awesome to watch your kids play, but if your passion is too extreme it will mess you up!

somebody was recently telling me at lunch how his son plays like a mini-cantona/keane ... studs-up tackles, elbows to the face when the ref's not looking, that kind of stuff.

i'd be so proud ... seriously.

I always get asked if I'd coach my 8 year old daughter, or my 4 year old son when he gets older. I always say no, because my head would explode from the lack of quality.

This kind of of lunch and tell dating is making me look bad. What's next? Writing in the stalls?
