http://www.ussoccer.com/events/report.sps?iEventID=10003&categoryid=376 According to the above at the USSF website, El Salvador's Alianza will be playing Honduras' Motagua at RFK on 10/19 at 3:15PM. It's a bit of bad timing since some of us may be in London and others in Foxboro, but I thought this might be of interest to some. Anyone else hear about this one? Mark
Yeah, a good friend of mine is from Honduras and told me about it. He said there was NO WAY he was going to that one. Hmmmmm......
Some of us weren't able to make the London trip work on short notice and would be up for live football. Any reasons as to why this might not be a good idea? Not being facetious, but genuinely curious.
Not a whole lotta love between the Hondurans and the Salvadorans. They even went to war over a soccer game once.
I might just go to watch. I have a few Honduran friends too, maybe they're the same people. I'll probably cheer for Motagua. Is that prudent Chico?
They are the same people Begs. Ernel (the Barra cook) said maybe we should just go and sit in Lot 8 and cook up some Carne Asada and drink some brewskis. F the game.
I wonder if United is going to have any marketing presence at the game? Great chance to reach out the Salvadoran and Honduran soccer fans. Sachin
I am planning on going. I will be wearing my DC United shirts... ALL of them... hats, socks... scarves... Barra Flags... etc to this game and sitting behind the goal to boo El Salvador hehehe Better yet... Iam going to wear all my US National team stuff since it has even less to do with the game. --ahhh, It would be nice to see a little role reversal for once, but of course I am only kidding. --Could be funny to see though. CSC might implode trying to figure out who to harass first
I think Motagua is Reyes' former team. I wonder if this game was arranged as some part of the compensation for his transfer.
Yeah $hit I was high... I thought this was referring to the DC United friendly. My bad. F- if I know if Oscar is selling for this. I doubt it. We don't really like either team. I could go... but if i do i may just buy walk up tickets cheap and will wander around. Hopefully see someone else get tossed for a change
David Castellanos, an American who played collegiately for UConn, now plays for Motagua. I believe one or both of his parents are Honduran. (His little bro is at Rutgers now.) Dunno if that's reason enough to go or root but it's something.
