No way I'm going to see that -- it costs more to attend than the MLS Western Conference Final in KC! ;)

Huzzah! I believe this is only the second time GW has advanced past the first round.

Yeah, now if only Real can beat Barca tomorrow...and maybe if I'm really blessed, the Giants will beat the Falcons. I'm not holding my breath though.

Anyone know when the draw for the second round will be, and when it will be played, etc?

GW's next match is Tuesday at Va. Commonwealth, who are seeded 16th. If AU wins tomorrow, they play UVA, also on the 23rd. With relatives here all next week from out of town, I think I can sneak to College Park for a few hours Tuesday evening and no one would know here :)

AU blanked LIU 3-0. Too bad the game against UVA (spit!) is on Tuesday. I'd like to see that match.

Terps play Hofstra tomorrow at 6:00

Note this is during the regular season, but tickets to Maryland Men's soccer games are $5 for adults and $3 for youths 17 & under and senior citizens. (I'm guessing it would cost a couple bucks more because it's the NCAA tournament) Games are played at Ludwig Field on the University of Maryland campus and all seats are general admission. Tickets can be purchased 1 hour before the game at the field; CASH SALES ONLY ON GAMEDAY.

For directions, parking go to my initial post and click on the UM Terps link.

A.U. is at Virginia at 7:00
G.W. is at Virginia Commonwealth at 7:00

Maryland women lost 1-0 to Washington.

Anyone looking for a live soccer fix could do worse than go to this game. IIRC they charge $7 admission for a NCAA tournament game. The stands behind the goals and on the sideline opposite the pressbox are close to the action. A student group called the Crew stands behind the opposing goalie and abuses him the full 90 minutes. And given how close they are, they frequently get in his head. I'd bet La Norte could pick up a few members if they stood with these students a few times and gave them an idea what they are all about. All in all, a pretty good fan culture.

Plus there are a few players on UMD that we might see in the MLS one day, so you can get a head start on your fantasy drafts ;)

    Go Huskies !! ;)
Hey, the men got trounced (as they always do in the first round) by Portland, so I can't root for them any more.

So for the men, I'm now a big UMD fan :) With an interest in Creighton, ODU, and Wake. If UMD can't win, I'd love to see College of Charleston pull the upset :D

Chris Albright's youger brother (Sean I think) scored the second goal for AU.

totally off topic here, but did anyone notice Albright's defense the last half of US/Jamaica? Kills me to say this but he made several fine stops.

People forget how many scoring chances Albright killed for DC. ;)

    College Park
Just a heads up for anyone coming to College Park tomorrow, in addition to the 2nd round game we also have a basketball game at 8, so there's a good possibility that traffic will be even more of a mess than usual.

Salisbury University (MD) beat Johns Hopkins this past weekend to make it to the Div III Final Four to be held in Greensboro, NC this weekend. They have a lot of Baltimore area players and some DC area players too.

Just thought I'd toot the horn for my alma mater! :)

I saw this in the paper this AM. I was going to park at Comcast Center and walk around campus like I always do but I'll try to park closer to Ludwig now.

Hmmm...maybe I can weasel my way into the hoops game after the soccer match.

Attend two games in one day....

    Brilliant!

My wife's reaction will probably be like this though when I'd come home around 11:00 PM...

    :)

Go Terps, Eagles and Colonials tonight!

I saw the Terps beat Creighton in the tournament several years ago, when Twellman played for Maryland and Mulrooney played for Creighton. There was a crazy short bearded dude that was screaming at Sasho Cirovski through the whole match. It was funny.
