Ok, so after having just paid 20 freaking dollars to watch France and England, I'm thinking there has GOT to be a cheaper way to do this. It occurred to me that it is kind of rediculous that there is no place in town (at least, not that i know of) that will show these games with some kind of cover charge.

So, basically, what i'm saying here is that if we can get together a group of people that would want to watch these games for cheapter than 20 dollars, and if we can get these people to convince a bar to devote money towards the purchase of these games, and have the bar/grill/restaurant/house/ whatever, and then charge a much smaller cover (say, 3-5 dollars) to come in and watch...

    It would be beautiful.

Of course, I'm thinkin Coach's here, but that's really only because i'm at least a little sure that they have the capability to do it, and several people like us that watch soccer there anyways are familiar with the location and such.

But i dunno...it might be hard to work out, but even if it just ends up going at somebdys house, that's fine too.

It just makes me a little sick to pay that much for a soccer game that i really want to watch.

Correction: After just having NOT paid 20 dollars to NOT watch France V. England.

Time Warner Cable can be pretty ************ sometimes.

That's ridiculous that Time Warner isn't offerering the Setanta package. I'm usually against calling people and complaining, but it is absolutely unconscionable and unforgivable that Time Warner could offer the individual games and not the entire package. It's not as if they don't know the games exist. Wow that's unbelievable. I have Time Warner and wasn't planning on ordering the package because I'd be at work for most of the games, but I wasn't aware that it didn't exist.

    Complete ****************.

yes, I had a nasty conversation with them about not offering the package, so I'm stuck buying games at a time at $20 a pop. at least fox sports world is showing 5 of them live during the week.

I was rooting for engerland, but it was a great game and worth the money. I'm even in a euro2004 pool with 4 other guys. That portugal loss really hurt me as those bastards were my first pick. at least I can look forward to the inevitible meltdown.

if anyone knows of a bar showing games, post it b/c I'd do it.

It's not the same, but BBC radio is streaming a radio feed on the net. Just finished listening to the Germany v Holland game. Fantastic. And it's free.

I think it's something we might have to work at, cause i'm pretty sure there isn't anyplace that's showing them now.

I could be wrong, but I believe it is more than just $20 if a bar/restaurant wanted to show the games. Don't they have a different PPV pricing structure for commercial establishments?

The number I read was 10 grand for the whole tournament for a bar/restaurant. That's a bit.

Go to www.bbc.co.uk and click "radio" at the top of the page. Once the radio page opens find "Five Live" on the left side and click listen now. My internet connection at work has been screwed up so I haven't heard most of the games  but what I have heard has been awesome.

anyone else pay for the england/portugal quarterfinal?

amazing game, but as soon as my vcr hit 3 hours and as port was about to take their final penalty after vassel missed, no more video. It stopped. it was unbelievable.

needless to say, timewarner refunded my money, so I watched 120 minutes of amazing soccer and 13/14 penalty kicks for free.

Wow that is amazing that they refunded your money!!! It apparently happened to everyone in the US. I have Comcast and it happened here too. It seems it was a Setanta problem since they only alloted exactly three hours to the match. Man does it suck having to pay so much for the games!!!!! And I thought it was just Comcast that was bad for not offering it....

I just bought the weekends games. Here's hoping there is not 0-0 draws or games cut off at the end. If anyone is in St. Louis and wants to come over for the game feel free. Just PM me.

I have Dish TV and I got the whole package for $179. And it seems they're showing the Quarters live and then again in the evenings.

I sympathize with you guys about the cable troubles. That's primarily why I switched to Dish. But now I don't get Metrosports - but the WIZards games don't seem to be showing up there anymore, anyhow.
