That transfer will cover the Metrostars' lease for, what, three games?

Good riddance. I'm happy that the player I most despised is gone. Attacking fans and players shouldn't be allowed. This guy did it all the time. Great skills, but horrible attitude, goodbye and good riddance.

I also like the webpages' pics of Mathis, Howard and Ramos above him looking down at him and laughing. Of course, Petke has this ... "uhhh what does this mean for me" look.

    Amazing...

Our DC United destruction of the core, the heart, the soul of the talent-rich Metros continues. What a joy to see :)

Technically this guy Diallo may have been THE best forward in the LEAGUE BOTH THIS YEAR AND LAST!!!

Instead of praise, glory, he gets little credit, gets sold, and is shown the door and asked never to come back. He goes to SAUDI F***ING ARABIA!!!????

Truth can be crazier and much more interesting than fiction....which is why I rarely read fiction by the way (I'm sure you wanted to know that! ;) )

The big question is what high-priced foreign superstar they will buy for the Metros to make up for this loss.

I'm not so sure they're gonna find someone better than Diallo! Mathis may be gone too. Metros are imploding wouldn't be surprised if they SUCK next year

Another big question-why is the smiley face darker than the wink face? Perplexing....

Uh, not to say you're a halfwit, but if you actually read those posts, you will find that it is fans of other teams who have raised the Arena scenario.

I think we Metro fans will be perfectly happy with Dave Sarachan.

The Bruce in Stripes? OZ Sacked

    Just being announced on ussocceruk.com.

Which brings us to the question does the Bruce take the reigns of the struggling franchise for the next 2 years and then return to full time national team duty?

It would help him scout current talent and personally ensure Clit's physical fitness.

I'd hate to see it, but he is a native New Yorker.

I was referring to new posts by one Dallas fan and one San Jose fan that were the only ones that popped up today. "Petkedude" wrote his two weeks ago. And still that's only one, not enough to savage the hordes of Metros fans calling for Arena to step down from the USA to take a club job.

    ....if you get him

Will Metro find a better forward than Diallo? HELL NO

Will Metro find a better coach than OZ? PROBABLY NOT

Will Mathis be a Metro next year? MAYBE NOT

Will Ramos be a Metro next year? NO

I'll take your pathetic defense, your brand new coach, your no forward except for Faria, your hole in the middle minus Ramos team and watch you sink to the bottom of the league....

And even if you have Mathis, what's that rooster head gonna do-carry the team? What are the chances his head is going to suddenly start appearing in games again?

Who knows what'll happen next. Like sands through the hourglass...as the Metro turn

    Oh yeah. Good luck

The article wasn't clear - are you sure the Metros didn't have to PAY the transfer fee for Al Ahli to take him?

I used to watch the egyptian Al Ahli team when I lived in Cairo and they played the game like marauding thugs. It makes me wonder if "Al Ahli" means "whining hooligans" in arabic.

Anyway, Zamalak kicks Al Ahli's arse...

    A) Why would he voluntarily demote himself?

    B) He can scout talent far more efficiently now because he can pop over to Europe when he needs to.

Re: The Bruce in Stripes? OZ Sacked

And this brings you to that question why? Just feel like stirring the pot with a 100% unlikely scenario because it's the offseason?

As I'm sure you're aware, the national team is a bit busy:

2003 - Confederations Cup, Gold Cup
    2004 - WC Qualifying-Semifinal Round
2005 - WC Qualifying-Final Round, Gold Cup, possible Confed Cup
    2006 - World Cup

Not to mention possible US Cups in various years.

FYI, it's already been announced (the firing, that is, not the strange Arena question) elsewhere by official sources:

Oh, right. I forgot. Metro fans hate Arena because either a) he was successful here, b) he tried to destroy the Metros by not playing Mathis in the WC, or c) we could've won the WC if he had just played Mathis.

Jeez, Mark I wasn't expecting such a violent beating, nor was I claiming to be the only person to have heard this :D

I was just posing the question, given that he has stated he prefers managing a club to his national team duties, on the chance that US Soccer throws him a bone and lets him do both. Otherwise their candidates should be Sarachan and Dir. I wasn't viewing it as a long term commitment, just through the 2003-04 seasons to help right a team mired in glorious failure since day 1.

    Funny. Also note my answer.

Just to clarify, are you saying you wouldn't like to see Bruce take over because there is nobody better suited for the Nats, or that there's no point in trying?

I agree that Sarachan would be a good choice, even though I'm unsure if he has ever had any head coaching experience.
