Trish's step dad took about 140 phone calls this week, all disagreeing with the stadium, while at work.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread From who? and why? They rather the 45 mill goes into turning their cow dung into food/dip/oil/spaghetti?
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread I didn't ask who, I didn't think to ask, I figured it was his boss' constituents who were bitter about the Pittsburgh fiasco. the general consensus is they don't want to "pay" for something in Philadelphia.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread i am sure the two major business centers in the state are thrilled about farm and coal subsidies
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Anything that doesn't help them they throughly oppose. they are all bitter and the ones who do bother to call are either unemployed or retired. Its nothing to worry about really. I expected that kind of reaction.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Tell you what, I think I am tired of paying all those taxes to support the hicks and half-wits that populate the center of this state. Why is it so difficult for them to understand that building a highway where nobody lives doesn't help the economic situation of the area in the long term. Reclaiming an unused industrial waterfront area turning it into a mixed use, revenue producing, property value increasing, permanent job creating area, however, will be a long term economic plus.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread I know all the positives but seriously take a look at the way they see it. It makes sense they would be miffed, and yes they do get a lot of help, but you don't have to get pissy.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Yeah, let's not turn this into a Rural vs. Urban political pissing contest. Both sides have very valid concerns on a variety of issues. I still wonder why anyone in their right mind (who's not corrupt) would get involved in politics. The job is nearly impossible, to balance to needs and concerns of all involved.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Seriously, hearing that the Senator from Chester is getting some negative comments isn't a big deal and its encouraging. That means ppl are talking about it. We already know most of the political muscle in the area is behind it.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread LEG-IS-LAT-ORS clap.clap.clapclapclap LEG-IS-LAT-ORS clap.clap.clapclapclap LEG-IS-LAT-ORS clap.clap.clapclapclap LEG-IS-LAT-ORS C'mon you public servants!!!!
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread politicians will take contributions...so donate to their re-election campaign and tell them you're giving them the money based on the pro chester vote... all politics is cronyism from the white house, to city hall, to the most rural places....
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Dave, I agree with you 100%. How can this bill be fairly judged without considering it's role in the Chester Rennaissance? This is the antithesis of the usual stadium. This will provide jobs, housing, and retail all which should provide a tax base for the city. A city that is among the poorest in the country based on housing prices and per capita income and has public services that could flourish and expand thus better serving it's needier residents. Bringing the whole city up, with a $500 million, only $45 state and $30 county, investment.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Yes - they usually INTRUDE, tear up neighborhoods, disrupt the community. This project develops vacant, basically condemned land that is currently an eyesore @ the gateway of the City.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread NOWHERE near so pretentious. I refer only to the gateway of the city - StL claims to be the "Gateway to the West", if I'm not mistaken.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread I'm sorry, my fault. Calcio and I tend to kid each other. Did not mean for anyone to pick it up and start fighting. Please, back on topic. Again, I appologise.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Cleaned up the bystanders thinking Frank and Patrick were really slinging mud.
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread Apology accepted. SoB's are, by nature, very magnanimous creatures. Thanx, Super Mod (or, should I say, Super Modo?). We were just funnin', all in good nature, and some outsiders who did not understand muddied our waters (remember, they DRINK the Mississippi.). Besides, any stuff I sling only LOOKS LIKE mud!
Re: Official :: PA General Assembly Thread might as well be waiting for godot ..... as fast as news travels around here
