[*]He conceded he is looking at the feasibility of Golden Boy acquiring an MLS franchise. He said he was trying to determine if the company opts to enter soccer whether it would be best to pursue the purchase of an existing MLS franchise or apply for an expansion franchise. Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t Dibs!
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t How much is De La Hoya worth? Does he have enough assets to be Saint Louis' big money owner? I suppose I could look, but I'll let someone else do the work. Thanks.
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t It has been reported for some time now that De La Hoya and his GBP have been negotiating to purchase the Dynamo from AEG. This article has no mention of that. Could it mean that negotiations with AEG have failed?
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t Hes got enough money. He made $50million in 2007 as a fighter (which doesn't include the money earned through his promotion company and previous earnings). I think he has plenty of money, and if not, he has plenty of friends with money.
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t GBP was started by Oscar de la Hoya, but Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosley are also partners. plenty of wealth in the group.
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t There's a 99% chance that this "MLS team" is Dynamo, right? He's a fan, and AEG is looking to offload Galaxy or Dynamo as the MLS requests. No capitalist worth his weight in gold is selling Galaxy, so Dynamo it is. Right?
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t thats what the rumor mill is churning out. here's a longer thread on the topic: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=625421
Re: Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions are looking at investing in an MLS t I came home and found this news in the Houston Chronicle about the Dynamo's ownership future. Golden Boy
New Investors for the Houston Dynamo Houston Chronicle article AEG will keep a share of ownership, likely at least 50% according to the article.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo I thought Don Garber said he wants each owner only owning 1 team. This isn't exactly it. But its a step I guess.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo And AEG is blasting ACDC's "Back in Black" all the way to the meeting.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo Houston DP in 60-90? Stadium is final soon? MLS likey new money!
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo It's amazing people were able to get in a few posts before that picture ended up in the thread
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo fo sho. well this thread is done. nothing more to see here. the rest is pure speculation and afterthought.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo Hopefully not the afterthoughts brought on by that picture..
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo When Red Bull bought the MetroStars, did they purchase the entire team? I seem to remember something about Red Bull Park being split 50/50; until Red Bull bought out AEG's share.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo The 50/50 share w/ Red Bulls had to do with the stadium, which they were gonna split and share with AEG. The two sides couldn't agree on a blueprint (literally) and Red Bull decided to buy out AEG's share of Red Bull Park.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo I find it interesting that AEG is only selling part of the team, especially since they and Garber have made it known they eventually want one ownership group per team. I wonder if there will be another investor coming aboard to join Golden Boy. Or, perhaps AEG doesn't want to disrupt the stadium plans by having the city now negoatiate with a new party so they figure they'll keep the majority of the Dynamo till all the negotiations with the stadium are done and all the documents are signed and then either sell the rest of the team to Golden Boy or a different investor. Assuming AEG does divest itself completely of the Dynamo in the next year or two, that puts all eyes, in terms of this subject, on the Hunts and, most likely, the Columbus Crew. I wonder if there's a plan in the works for the Hunts to divest one of their teams and, if so, which one they're going to sell.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo Two Hunt brothers - one works on the Crew mostly and the other with FCD. Hunts will always have those teams unless they sell. Brener is the deep-pocketed invester in GoldenBoy and has real estate holdings.
Re: New Investors for the Houston Dynamo Wow, you really went out on a limb with this statement, didn't you?
