Michael Orozco finally got a second chance in Mexico. In his only previous appearance there, he had been sent off seconds after coming on as a sub, and it has taken him months to get back onto the field. Yesterday, he apparently lined up in central defense, and San Luis beat first-place Atlas 1-0, despite playing short-handed for the last 15 minutes. According to a San Luis paper, Atlas "never ceased to be a latent threat to San Luis's defense, where youngster Michael Orozco wasn't out of place at all." http://www.sanluishoy.com.mx/Deportes/
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=212130&cc=5901 St. Luis scored while a man down on the 89th min. I guess it's most known players are an ex-Mexican international GK Adrian Martinez and a Uruguayan striker Sebastian "El Loco" Abreu.
And Abreau's number - 113?? Never saw a three digit number for a player. I guess he is a little loco.
He's a very good finisher but a bit of a tweener - too tall/slow to be a supporting striker, too slender to be a pure target striker. He was on the books at Deportivo de La Coruña in Spain for a few years but ended up basically loaned out to various Mexican clubs where he had spent the majority of his last five or so years. He's 30 now. To tie it to Orozco, the Mexican League gets decent talent, San Luis is a part of the Televisa group of teams (along with America, Atlante and Necaxa)and Raul Arias is a pretty darn good coach. So getting PT at this club isn't that minor of an achievement.
If only there were something like an "engine" on the "Internet" that you could use to "search" for stuff. \\http://www.univision.com/uv/stats/fmf/players/41965/Michael Orozco And MICHAEL OROZCO (San Luis) Games: 1 (2 minutes). From the U Cal Irvine news: UC Irvine soccer players have lofty goals. Don't bother with the article...just one of those pre-season college puff pieces, with no mention of Orozco other than the picture below.
Why use a search engine when there is a "Sandon Mibut" that can answer all the worlds soccer questions?
