Looks like they also are first on the waiver list A look at the mechanisms by which the Orlando Pride will build its roster in the coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/aK94b1sn4x— Orlando Soccer Daily (@OrlSoccerDaily) October 20, 2015 And apparently they aren't legally able to use a lion for the Pride due to the OC logo belonging to MLS and used by Adidas where as NWSL is exclusive with Nike. Yeah, that's not really news... I mean, it's the reason the Thorns couldn't use the Timbers name/iconography, the Dash couldn't use Dynamo name/iconography, and why I kept saying that you wouldn't see "City" at all in the Orlando NWSL name.
I am not so sure about that. There are factors you have to consider. Paulsen really wanted this to happen for 2016, would have liked to have seen it for 2015, but there were no MLS teams ready to commit. Most likely he worked real hard to get Real Salt Lake to commit for 2016, but couldn't get them to budge from 2017 due to a stadium construction issue. When Orlando suddenly appeared expressing an interest, he probably was all over it. You have to remember he has always been a very strong proponent of getting more MLS teams actively involved with the NWSL, thus Houston and now Orlando. From a business standpoint, he has invested a lot of his profits back into the league to help out, and would probably be more then willing to take less for Morgan to get another MLS team involved that could eventually help offset some of those costs as well as help to stabilize the league and help it grow faster. Survival of the league is his main priority. He is more concerned about the big picture right now. So who knows what kind of backroom deal went down. Whether the draft is weak one or not, is probably not an issue with Paulsen as it was for him to get Orlando to sign on the bottom line and be ready to go for 2016. To add to the scenario, what can we take from the timing of the trade for Servando Carrasco, Morgan's husband, from Kansas City to Orlando City, not long after they expressed a strong interest for a team. Was it a mere co-incidence, as many suggest, or was it all a part of a well laid plan to get Alex Morgan into an Orlando uniform.
Here is my Orlando Pride Roster Prediction: Morgan Harris Leroux Ezurike Leon Dalton Bock Henderson(I hope she comes Out of retirement, she would look good in Purple or anything) Brown Silva Huster Dydasco DaCosta Shim Sanderson Frisbie Taylor(didn't get along in DC won't get along in Portland) Grubka Gordon Corsi Brooks
That list is so improbable I'm not sure where to start. Morgan - This can go either way Harris - Definite Leroux - Highly unlikely. They can't get both Leroux and Morgan as I expect they will both be protected so you will pretty much exhaust all your valuable chip to get one or the other. Morgan is more likely. Ezurike Leon Dalton - Given that KK is on her last leg and Dalton was the defacto starter even after the world cup, she is not going anywhere. Bock - Two years of being on the injury side will keep teams away from her. Henderson(I hope she comes Out of retirement, she would look good in Purple or anything) Brown - She will definitely be protected. Silva Huster - If Harris is selected they can't take anyone from the Spirit again. And I don't think Orlando will have the assets to trade for her Dydasco - See above DaCosta - See above Shim - She will rather retire than leave Portland Sanderson - After wasting their first round pick on her, she is not going anywhere. Frisbie Taylor(didn't get along in DC won't get along in Portland) - That is the first I'm hearing of this. Grubka - Wishful thinking Gordon - They can have her but I would think she will want to stay close to New York. Corsi - Lol. Well firstly it is mandatory that she is protected and there is a 0.0% chance she is traded unless Fishlock decides that she wants to live in Orlando now. Brooks - Possible.
Whoever told you this is mistaken... Only 2 NWSL teams use "stock" kits, what I call off-the-shelf (as you can buy them at anywhere that sells soccer apparel). Most customize colors on stock templates. So, they can select purple for their jersey just fine: (just to show two different models both allow purple)
If you mean its own subforum, we have to prove there's enough activity and then ask in the user support forum for the creation of a new NWSL subforum. FWIW, we had 5 Dash threads going when a Dash subforum was finally approved.
Three; we have an expansion draft speculation thread already going, so that's two. Also, the raw numbers don't matter so much as overall activity. The GerWoSo subforum started with just two threads.
I don't think you actually have to wait for a certain number of threads. Just go to the "Forum Requests and Voting" sub-forum and ask. Just let them know it is an expansion team that has been announced to play next season and that there is precedent for creating one already.
Yeah... I'm honestly not sure how they convinced the mods to create a subforum, considering all the hoops other subforums have had to go through to get created.
Word on the street is that the Morgan to Orlando trade might be happening via Kling and the 1st round draft pick. Not sure I understand why Orlando is mortgaging the house like this. Also, they are now only left with 1 international spot (could still trade for more though) which limits what they could potentially do in that market
If I'm Orlando, I look to teams like Chicago and grab their players off the unprotected list and them trade them back to Chicago for international slots (since they seem unlikely to use theirs other than on Erceg).
They could figure why bother with so many internationals in an Olympic year... They saw how well it worked for Portland.
The Olympics have fewing teams and smaller squads so its a bit better. With Cameroon out, I'm still hoping that someone goes after Enganamouit
