First of a two game home stand for the Rapids with Galaxy in town Saturday night. Last season the Rapids would have had good depth to deal with a mid-week match, this season not so much. Part of the story will be how well Fraser is able to manage minutes for players like Rubio. 1546923463738175488 is not a valid tweet id
2-1 win, goals by Rubio and Lewis. This looks like the most winnable game for a while and I think an extra-tired Orlando will give us that chance. It will be tight and Lewis will get the winner off the bench. We'll suffer for the effort in the heat on Saturday against the Galaxy, but right now we can only worry about the game in front of us. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2022/07/some-mickey-mouse-club-in-town.html
Price out is not good. No prediction from me, I just hope there will be goals. We need to win to keep season alive on threads.
Last season the playoff cutoff in the west was tied at 48 points. This season that looks like it may be higher. Rapids need 1.75 PPG to finish out the season to just get to 48 points. Last season we went 1.79 PPG. Not calling this a must win tonight, as we’ve got a lot of “six pointers” against western conference teams coming up. Actually no, I’m calling this a must win. At this point in the season you must win at home - and especially against eastern conference teams. We need points. And we need them in 3’s. Here’s hoping tonight is the start of a positive trend in the season.
Absolutely a must win. I just have such a hard time predicting a win. I mean, the defense is an accident waiting to happen, and the offense is Rubio, with the others hoping for random luck (hey, the ball has to go somewhere, why not off the inside post?). 1-1 tie with Rubio taking a dive, er...scoring the goal.
I see a guy I don’t recognize and he’s young warming up. Assuming it’s Priso. Based on the warmups it looks like Rubio and Barios on the bench.
Sorry, but that lineup has loss written all over it. I can't see a midfield of Acosta, Warner, and Max doing anything positive, and without Rubio our attack will probably be pretty toothless. Maybe so many ORL players will run forward looking for goals that we can hit them with counters?
This has been a total mess. Guys yelling at each other. Constant mis-position. This literally looks like a men’s pick up game of a bunch of guys that have never played together before……which is exactly what it is.
Lots of shit passes. Lots of diagonals either overhit or wings not wide enough. Lots of bad body language. Lots of hands to the sky and yelling. Just shit overall. Nicholson is on my side and I’ve looked up and he’s playing so far inside that he’s never a good option. When he have been wide he just goes straight to the end line, ignoring opportunities to cut inside on his left. Warner is about the only guy that’s played halfway decent.
We are a miserable, boring team to watch. The players don’t like each other. If I hear Marcelo say, “it’s a tiny mistake” one more time... A failure to mark someone isn’t a tiny thing, it’s a huge thing.
Nicholson finds Zardes, but only after ORL allows his cross to bounce in the box. Zardes hits Gallese with his header.
Zardes actually scores! Great job by Barrios to get space and get the ball in, and Zardes does what he's supposed to do. 1-1
